300bo pistol question

Hey guys dumb question but how are you marking your 300bo pistols to distinguish them from your other AR’s? Since all my psa AR’s use the same “multi cal” lower or whatever it says on there its easy for me to lose track of which is which. Especially when you put them next to a bunch of other psa pistols its easy to get them mixed up. I thought about coloring the logo with crayon but thats kinda lame was hoping for some ideas thanks

I use marking bands to designate my .300 BO from others. One on the handguard and one on each .300 BO magazine.

It’s not that hard to color in the logo. Don’t use crayon. Tape all the areas around it, fill the logo with paint (brush, foam applicator, etc,) wipe away the excess on top immediately. If any ends up drying on top you can clean it up with a drop of solvent/paint remover and a soft nylon brush.

I do the same. I also match color of rifle furniture with color of mags.
Semi family old pic:

i too use ammo bands and have found they work well for my needs. thus far they have been enough identification that i am confident in my ability to know which rifle / magazine is for which without any issues. I’ve also found that the more you respect you’re rifles/magazines/guns in general, and take your time when preparing to shoot, you’ll usually have less mistakes… like anything, its got a lot to do with respect for what you’re’ doing.

Definitely not a dumb question. No one wants to have a mismatch. For the guns themselves, all color coded, at least at the furniture level similar to @GuitarGuy. Not sure why FDE and occasionally grey became my 300blk colors, but never, ever, ever black. Mags I use the 300blk specific PMAGS and write 300 in the dot matrix. Yellow for supers, red for subs; makes grabbing a set easier with color and the slight difference in mag grid pattern. Don’t be afraid to use some paint since the cost of getting it wrong is a heck of a lot more than an upper and a can of Rustoleum. Or medical bills…

That’s a good idea

What bolt release are you using on the arv? I’m still mad that they haven’t made an upgrade/ update for that lol

One that i made at home.

Amazon has a 24 pack for $10.

Just the 1st one I grabbed for a example. I wasn’t price shopping

If you have any extra made I’d like to buy a couple from you I can’t stand that bolt release

I dont. Here is the thread you seek, which includes the right screw to buy.

I wasn’t really into the AR pistol platform, built several AR rifles then a friend wanted me to build him a 300 BO pistol. I liked it so much had to build my own. I have 3 nearly grown sons and we shoot together, so I was concerned about the same - someone grabbing the wrong mag or whatever. We try not to get the .300 BO and the 5.56 guns out at the same time, but it does happen. SO I made sure it was clearly different…painted it so it was obvious. I found the mag bands as well so all my mags are marked and the gun. ALso I bought some red Duramag magazines to use exclusively with the .300BO. Although that gets pricey so I bought a 10-pk of PSA/USGI mags (on sale of course) and plan to paint stencil 300 BO on them.

This picture was taken when I Built the gun PRE-BAN, and I have of course removed the illegal pistol brace and disposed of it.
I didn’t foresee how popular this gun would be to shoot with nearly everyone. It is one of the favorites and first choices to shoot.
Love it. I’m a 300 BO pistol fan now.
Now if only my NFA purchases would be released from ATF jail, I could really enjoy the gun. (6 months and counting)

So does anyone make a specific 300 BO follower replacement for USGI mags?

The proper follower is a 5.56/223 follower. Its the same case necked down.

I use bands I get on Amazon.

The designation bands are the way I went. One on each mag, one on the gun. They’re quick, cheap, easy and versatile. I did color fill the barrel caliber stamping too.

I used colored 300 Blackout bands on my mags. Red for Subsonic, Green for Supersonic. You can also place the bands somewhere on the pistol, as some people do.
