AR-15 magazines

Make sure you label your 5.56 and your 300 blackout magazines and keep them separate with their AR. You can buy stickers off of eBay to label your rifles and magazines and they look great.

Is this similar to the 16ga in a 12ga debacle?

Or, like I do for my 6.8 vs. 5.56, use different types. Since I only have metal mags for 6.8, that makes it very easy. I won’t use anything but Magpul when I have the option, so that’s what all my 5.56 mags are.

I got these 300BO stickers from StickIt2TheMax. I also use Ranger plates on my 300BO mags. In the dark it also gives me a reference to which mag that I am loading.

Great Idea. As long as I’m not mixing weapons on the range, I have my magazine ammo cans marked. I also try to reload the mags after range day.

It isn’t as much me that I am worried about but the people who I take shooting with me. I have my own personal range. I often let friends and family shoot with me. I never have one of my 5.56 AR out at the same time as I have one of my 300BO ones out. Since more then one person has a weapon out we may have different calibers out at the same time. For instance if my son is shooting his 5.56 and runs out of loaded mags he knows that I don’t mind him grabbing a loaded mag of mine. The problem may come in if I have my 300BO out. The 300BO sticker would stop him if he started to pick up one of my mags. If for some crazy reason he wasn’t paying attention to the sticker the Ranger plate would definitely stop him from loading the mag. Two safety features are always better than one. The only pmags of mine that have Ranger plates of course is the mags that I have dedicated as 300BO.

I have seen several people do this and also have the dust covers show the caliber (like on the DB rifle series)

Anytime that I build a 300BO for a friend I always label a few mags for them and tell them about Ranger plates. I also always get a dust cover showing 300BO as a safety feature for them and their family. It is cheap and easy to do.

My 300 blackout is my only FDE gun and it only uses Lancer 300 blackout mags which just so happen to have the FDE floorplates that match to the gun. Everything else I have that shoots 5.56 uses USGI or PMAGS. That way I can’t mix up the mags and I can’t mix up the colors!

Awesome! I’m a poor man and use hex magazines and P-mags. lol

I keep my 300 blackout mags fde or white and 5.56 black

Smart👍

I’m still looking for feed reliable 450 Bushmaster magazines. I may drill the gas vent hole out in the barrel just over what it is now to help cycle function if that’s the problem.

Another tactic is to use translucent or transparent mags for one or both calibers. I use translucent for .300blk.

This works for me, but would not work for anyone who may have access to my rifles and doesn’t know the difference.

Personally I just never take 300BO and 5.56 weapons to the range at the same time. Too many ways to blow myself up.

I only use GI style mags for .300 blk since the brand of polymer mags I have will not work with that round.

Great tip, would hate to get those mixed up

The stickers look clean! I plan to grab a bunch for my AR mags. The worst is getting to the range and realizing you brought the wrong mags!
