I didn’t say that at all. It’s the ammo, and the lack of anyone driving them to proper velocities. 10mm is the same way. Your run of the mill 10mm is watered down to just above 40SW loads. Even 9mm is being dialed back. That’s why I feel the boring work I do reviewing ammo can be of use. The Rock is very capable. I like mine almost slightly more than the FSN, and definitely better than the Ruger.
I think a lot of people have become too “black and white” on things. It’s like when big influencers say LVPO’s are a compromise, and everyone sells theirs.
Every well placed round can be lethal. Shot placement and penetration depths matter. The available factory loadings, work. I’m just saying they are a compromise and you should seek better ammo as funds and time allows.
Yeah my local gun shop keeps trying to sell federal for $55 a box and I keep telling them that you can get it for about $30 a box online. I understand you got to make a profit and the sale price has to be higher than what you’re paying wholesale but that ammo has also been sitting on the shelf there for about 6 months now.
The fort Hood guys ammunition was SS197SR and SS192 (which has been replaced by ss195lf) if memory serves.
Nobody made the argument that those rounds don’t work but that there were other options that work better. AE57 is not either of those rounds both of those rounds are at least 100 ft per second faster than the American eagle.
American eagle also has a problem of reliability because there’s no crimp actually holding the bullets in other than tension with the case which can result in the bullets getting pushed back into the case during loading of the chamber. I’ve had this happen to me a number of times and not only does it waste your money it also dumps powder through the chamber and possibly magazine of your firearm. Not to say it’s guaranteed to happen because I’m fired thousands of rounds of it that haven’t but I wouldn’t want to take the risk if I didn’t have to in a SD situation.
No no we haven’t even gotten into debating why elite ammunition is the best hax0r ammunition in all of history and it destroys all and can even vaporize a tank just by touching it.
I know I definitely get confused with 5.7 ammo. I thought the AE 5.7 ammo was equivalent to 9mm FMJ ammo. It’s probably more accurate to say AE is below typical 9mm FMJ rounds. Both in quality and performance. I’ve got a picture on this forum somewhere where Federal loaded one of my primers in backwards. I’ve never heard of that happening before.
I guess the main problem is that we are just now getting around the crazy tight restrictions the ATF placed on civilian ammo.
Which is why I try to stick with recommendations from people like buffman range and viper weapon systems who actually test the ammo.
There’s a ■■■■■■■■ of armchair experts out there who don’t have any real world experience or even testing to back up their arguments. Their favorite YouTuber said four five is Mo Betta cuz it’s mo bigga so that’s all they ever want to hear.
