7.62x39 75 Round Mags Fit Standard AR15 Mag Wells?

I’m talking about the “Made in Korea” KCI 75 round mags that CtD sells -

Also the Iver Johnson 75 round mags -

Century has a similar one -

Has anybody fitted these into the standard Magazine Well on Late Model AR15 uppers ?

The cavity measures 2.5 inches by 13/16 inches.

If you measure a Magpul AR15 mag, those are the overall dimensions.

Of course the front of the Magazine, on the Magpul magazines, is stepped down.

Those might fit per dimensions, but they won’t lock into, or feed properly in, an ar-15 lower receiver. The AK platform “rocks” into place with the mag catch connecting in the rear. The rear tang also isn’t included in those dimensions. AR15 style magazines insert straight and the mag catch locks into a slot in the side of the mag.

I can accept that the latches are not in the right location.

I’ve been working with the 350 Legend and the MWG 90 magazine for 5.56x45.

It works great for 5.56, but it mis-feeds very reliably on the 3rd bullet in the magazine, when I try it on 350 Legend.

The 350 Legend has the same Bolt face diameter, but the taper is a little different.

I look at the magazines designed possibly for the Century Arms AK47, and I think, well at least they’re designed for the right bullet size and taper.

With all the wildcats available etc., it’s obvious that firearms people are a little like car mechanics & hackers, also trying something new.

I figure some firearms people somewhere have made the KCI/ Iver Johnson work with a standard Magpul magazine well.

Doesn’t sound like you can buy it though, which means the maximum magazine size you can use with the PSA and Bear Creek 7.62x39 uppers may be the largest ASC 7.62x39 mag.

I found one here, but its out of stock, But you’re right, I havent seen many higher capacity mags for 7.62x39 for the AR platform. They dont feed that well because the mag has to straighten out so much. This is part of why we have our KS-47. It gives the normal feel and most regular AR controls, while allowing the use of AK style mags.

In stock now.
