I would love to hear what mags owners are running and how those mags are doing.
I’ll start off. I chiefly use Korean made KCI mags. I have run 30, 40, and 75 Rd mag and drum from them and have not had any problem. The 75rd drum is a little sloppy but that hasn’t be an issue so far. I also have run the Pmags with out problem. All of these have loaded fine. The only one I have had an issue with had been US Palm. I cannot get it to even try to rock in all the way.
Hope to hear what’s working from some other owners. Good shooting.
Same here with the kci…i have 2 40 rounders that run well…my 10 rnd kci clicks in perfect and runs flawlessly…only have one pmag and its a 10 rnder too…it also runs great…the only one so far that clicks in on its own is the kci 10 rnder…the pmag takes just a hair of pressure on mag release and only has to go abt 1/8 of an inch so it almost clicks in on its own…the 40’s take some pressure to lock the mag release back and they dont really “click” however none have ever fallen out while firing or anything…also 40s can kinda be a bitch to release as far as using force to release the paddle mag release…really want some pmag 20s and kci 20s
I was able to get the US Palm magazines to work, but you have to shave a little bit off the inside of the feed lip allowing the cartridge to lift up and the bolt to control it all the way into the chamber. I personally swear on the Serbian polymags the 320 and 330’s
Has anyone tried Bulgarian polymer steel lined mags from GunMag Warehouse? I am getting more concerned about the wear on the overinsertion tabs and looking to what polymer options are out there.
My first Red Flag……I was trying to figure out what was causing the damage to the bottom of my hand guard……but that is for another post.
Then I noticed the over insertion tabs slightly chewed up. See photo. It’s those Steel Surplus Mags. Get rid of the steel…and stick to the polymer mags.
On another note….when using Eastern European polymer mags……place a band of rubber around the base of the mag….or put a polymer grip panel on the bottom your hand guard. Aggressive magazine changes….will bump the bottom front of that empty mag on the hand guard and result in some rather unsightly “dings” on your gun. The front of the base plate on most European mags is like a knife. I run bands around all of my mags now to protect my hand guards on both my KS-47 and my AK-47.
Ok, I am about to do something that I normally would not do. I am going to post a link to another company, so if the mods wish to delete it I understand. The reason I am doing this is because the offer is great and because it is for magazines, which are an accessories that are available from so many sources.
So, with that said. I have been searching for polymer mags to replace my steel ones, as the steel ones are chewing up my over insertion tabs. I started focusing on a company called AC Unity. They are a company out of Bosnia who have state of the art injection processes. They offer both “soviet” style mags, without BHO and modern BHO style mags. They provide mags for the Bosnian military and seem to be very sturdy.
RTGParts is offering a special deal on 40rd mags originally produced for the German market, but due to capacity law changes are now no longer legal in Germany. This is a great deal for us in the States, as they are selling twenty(20) mags for $99. This means that they are around $5 apiece.
I have one 30 rd BHO mag from them already and the fit is tight (though the mag release does not return to the normal position when using it) and it has fed flawlessly thus far, and it cost $8.95
Hope this helps anyone looking for a source of cheap polymer mags.
Just got my 40er mags in and they look and fit great. Won’t get to function test them for a couple of days, but if the AC Unity 30rd I have is any indication, they should run great.
I’m really impressed with these AC Unity mags. You can get them to squeeze the slightest bit, but otherwise they seem very strong and rigid. Found a YouTube video where they put them to the test, very impressed for a $5-9 mag.
