I picked up some gen 2 pmags (non-metal lugs) but want to get another 15-20 mags. What does everyone use? Pmags? Psa? US Palm? Not worried about having to file/fit, just want to make sure they are reliable.
Tapcos run fine if you are on a budget, im anywhere from circle 10 to s. Korean steel. I prefer steel mags but have about half polymer, croation mags didnt work for me, but do they ever??
i have some pmags, but i have a lot of older imported mags, oh i also have a handful of polish slabside magazines too, that i was told were worth a good bit… who knows.
i do have one very special AK mag, its the AK Boyscout mag. look itup. you’ll learn about a cool mag. and you’ll learn that not all ak mags are created equal.
I have Magpuls and a few of the croation steel ones PSA puts on sale frequently
Ive got a mix of croatian and yugo steel, all work great with no fitting, pmags of various capacity, all work great, psa waffle…sorry, it fits but not keen on it, and 4 slabside psa that are mid-fakelite process but dry fit fine. Everything but the KS likes them all, the KS i stick to pmags only til my slabs are done because overinsertion tabs.
My favorites are the Bakelites……because the work perfectly in both….my PSA-AK and in my PSA KS47. Second place goes to the PSA waffle mags.
There is not a better mag within its price range.
They come in a variety of colors and with a few minutes of gently filing…they fit the KS47 also.
Ya Can’t Beat those PSA Waffle Mags !
I’ve only been able to try the Magpul mags on my KS-47 but am anxious to try the PSA waffle mags. However, they are either always out of stock or I can’t find them on the web site.
Seems like someone said PSA is updating/improving their design, so we’ll hopefully see them available soon.
I have Korean steel, Croatian steel, Bulgarian steel, Croatian polymer, magpul, and of course PSA.
The only brand that didn’t feed properly was magpul. It was an older mag though so could have been spring issue.
I also hear Bulgarian polys are good and I’m going to try those next.
All Pmags all the time.
PMAGS only. There is no substitute.
Bakelites , orginal russian 103 , psa waffles , bulgarian polymers , pmags and steels just about anything i have or can get my hands on as long the mags reliable ill run them
Picked up a PSA 103 GF3. PSA mag it comes with fits loose. US Palm doesn’t fit. Korean 40 round KCI doesn’t fit. MagPul pmag fits tight, will follow up after I shoot to see if it cycles.
Ordered another PSA mag to CYMA.
Galil Ace 2 coming soon, so I’m not gonna modify mags until I see if they fit her.
I use a handful of P-mags, 3 of the Croatian steel mags, a 75rnd drum, and one PSA banana mag.
the only ones it doesn’t seem to like are the steelies, first half dozen or so magloads through them kept getting ftf’s with the bolt just skimming over the top round. got better after the break-in period.
Can’t go wrong with European steel…haven’t tried any Korean yet but I’ve heard they’re good as well.
I have pmags and us palm banana mags. In a fight the Magpul, at the range banana mags.
Bulgarian steel reinforced polymers are my goto. Never had one that didn’t fit my GF3 and they are built tough. They also will take the Weapontech bolt hold open follower if you are into that.
The AC Unity 30rd and 40rd polymer mags have run great in my KS-47 and I took a couple over to a friend to have him run them through his AKs. He loved them. You can get 20 mags, in either size, for $99+ shilpping
PSA AK 103 performed flawlessly. This is my first AK and first PSA AK. The boys in the Palmetto State are a confident, so far so good. Keep it up.
personally i have a conglomerate of used military surplus AK mags, russian, bulgarian, yugoslavian, polish slab sided, korean, chinese, and many many more. Not to mention the stack of Magpul AK mags i have too, oh and now i have a true to life dog gone PSA AK magazine, its damn impressive. I love the slab side and small logo on it…
Oh i also have one bosnian fleur de lis mag as well… those some folks call the boy scout mag… are fairly rare from what ive been told… i like it cause i was a boy scout.
i have found however, that it is hard to go wrong usually with the mil surplus AK mags… usually they’re good to go, and dont fail in my experience.
I like the pmags I also use my Chinese mags from my mak90, also had to fit and file some yugo mags but they work good now. I also have a Chinese drum mag but it’s too heavy and cumbersome.
