I was wondering if anyone has tried US Palm magazine’s? If so how well did they work?
If you have another favorite goto Mag for the KS feel free and list it!
Thank You!
Chris at Small Arms Solutions did a comparison of all the AR’s that accept AK mags. PSA won hands down for accuracy, reliability, magazine compatibility and of course price.
Every single magazine I have ever bought, including the lousy crack-o-matic gen 1 Pmag that came with it took a lot of fitting usually on the tang sometimes on the feedlips. US palm magazines took both. My goto magazine, is the Serbian 320’s from Apex gun parts, these are the only magazines that feed perfectly and tcan be used without modification (you will have to pull the latch shut though). Steel mags tear holy hell out of the overinsertion tabs in the receiver. Even good magazines like my precious Tula Bakelite didn’t fit even AFTER being fitted for an AK.
As for US Palm, unlike a real AK, us palm magazines do fit into the mag well on a KS-47. I had to open up the feed lips at the very end as they held the cartridges too low and the bolt would lose control of the rim and crush into the side of the case, and I had to trim down the locking tab. The plastic is very soft, I was able to do the modification to the feedlips with a knife. The tang has a metal insert that required filing, its very easy to overdo it, I would suggest using a file rather than a grinder, and to keep it even, do not use sand paper.
Would it be possible to post a picture of your modifications?
Circle 10 polymer at $19 each, Circle 10 Waffle polymer at $49 each and the Bakelites at unreasonable expensive $ will all work great without any modification. The AK47 PSA Waffle mag is a bargain but you will have to use a file to remove just a slight amount of the underside of the rear lug on the magazine. For my $ $….Those PSA mags are the best. With a little file you can make them fit PERFECTLY. ( plus all the cool colors they are available in).
