My GF4 is on the way, and I was wondering what brand of magazine it’s coming with so I can purchase more. Am I correct in assuming that it’s going to be a PSA magazine along with the PSA poly furniture? Also do the PSA magazines come with metal lugs and feed ramps? Thanks for checking out my post yall, happy shooting!
My GF3 came with a Magpul mag, which did not have metal reinforcement. This was prior to PSA making their own mags though. I’ve had good luck with Xtech, Bulgarian and the PSA mags (all polymer steel reinforced). I have some Korean, which required filing and could not get the Croatian mags I bought to fit. Expect that some of your mags may need the locking lug filed.
Most should work right out of the packaging. I bought 5 extra pmags and 4/5 fit. I filed the bottom of the rear tab and it fit snugly.
@oilboy26 We are still shipping our AK’s with Magpul mags at the moment. Our mags have a steel locking lug and metal reinforced feed lips.
The PSA mags are very new. They released them a couple weeks ago. They are metal reinforced polymer mags. Essentially copies of the Arsenal Bulgarian circle 10 mags. I’d expect yours to come with a standard PMAG. I’ve tried standard PMAGs, Gen M3 PMAGs, and the PSA mags in mine. All but the Gen 3 PMAGs worked for me.
Tanks yall
.
@Josiah_PSA do you know if anyone has tried bolt hold open followers in the PSA mags? Been thinking about ordering some along with a BHO safety.
Looks like I’ll be picking up a PSA magazine as well.
Good question, I’m thinking about picking up a ten pack myself.
FYI BHO followers don’t work in PMAGs. Just in case you don’t know.
I am not aware of us trying BHO followers in our mags.
I tried them and they will not work without removing some material, from the inside of the mag. The follower will not make it all the way out the top if you don’t.
Well… I applaud you sir, because that’s the most Russian AK-47 $h1t on this post. Considering the nature of it that’s impressive.
LRBO mags are pointless.
Get more P-Mags, a couple of the new PSA waffles, and some Bulgarian steel is a good start.
Couldn’t agree more. Polymer mags seem to fit a little tighter in my PSAKs but hard to beat the durability and aesthetics of a steel mag with a nice patina. I did have to file the gen 3 Magpuls a bit to get them to fit, FYI.
Has anyone tried the US palm mags with the steel lips in the gf3/4/5? I want to get some of them if they seem to be gtg. Thanks!
I have the G3 with Plum furniture, the pmag that came with works well as does a Korean metal one.
Have issues with a brown polymer Bulgarian and a metal Croatian one. I have seen mention of filing just not clear where; was going to return those two from place of purchase though it’d cost more shipping them back, so figured I’d work the problem.
I saw some differences between the ones like pmag that work and ones that don’t. The ramp to rear tab and such. Still have to pick up a banana one too. Though definitely more PSA and pmag.
That plum is sweet though.
Sorry for the Late Reply, I had the Palm Mags they fit the GF3 they did NOT fit the Gf4 and GF5 so I shipped them back and will look at the PMags or Bulgarian.
I tried US Palm
#: MA692A worked in GF3 not in 4 or 5
#: MA944A worked in GF3 not in 4 or 5
#: MA943A worked in GF3 not in 4 or 5
I’m tired of buying and shipping Mags back, I need to just get what works.
Just got my Gen4 in yesterday, it came with the PSA polymer mag. Anyone know which steel or metal mags work in the Gen4 ? I prefer steel/Metal mags for all my guns over polymer Thanks ! Ready to sling some lead down range
Most steel mags have needed fitment, on my GF3, but I’m partial to Bulgarian. Croatian have been the most problematic for me.
