PSA AK-5.56 still having mag compatibility issues?

It’s been said that it only really likes PMAG’s some other polymer mags. Has this problem been rectified?

Who has said that?

PSA, on the product page.

Thats not what PSA is saying. They are recommending pmags. That means they designed it for use with pmags and can not guarantee others will work (just like glock designs their guns to work with their mags and cant guarantee other mags will work).

Several people on youtube who did videos on the PSA AK-5.56.

i would use pmags, it is highly recommended. the magazines they make themselves work great too. i recommend pmags… there it’s settled.

See above.

Well yeah I’ve seen that. It’s just I’ve seen a few videos of users claiming it simply will not feed from metal mags or even some other types of polymer.

Was just curious if any work has been on subsequent batches to improve that at all?

Ahhh… i think i read somewhere that they based the AK off the pmag so if the magazine varies significantly it might not work.

Doubtful. Why design it to work around a pmag, put that as information for the buyer, and then reengineer for something else?

if anything i’d think PSA would engineer it to work off of plain ol steel mags, as those are the most common throughout the world.

I’ve got pmags, A2 mags, and palmetto mags.
Thousands of rounds thru 3 different ARs with zero issues with any mags.

i am having issues with the suggested PMAGs and metal mags. every other round will not load into the chamber. the ejecting brass is at the 1:30 position over gassed i guess, i dont believe there is a gas adjustment on the AR-K.

Ok, well AKs dont work like that. especially in 5.56 where mags are mostly questionable. Even in 7.62 some mags are known to be absolutely trash.

Try an FB radom, or WBP mag. take some pictures of the failure, and throw em up.
