I’ve gotten the Ak556 (the 1300 dollar model) and love it so far. I’ve still need to put it through some more tests before I make it my new main rifle despite my one hiccup with it.
That hiccup being the bolt release on the left-hand side of it. I know it’s an ak- you can rack the charging handle and keep trucking- but as an improvement/aftermarket part could PSA possibly think about upgrading the magazine release button itself.
Reason I ask is when you’re in an oh-s**t panic moment and for one reason or another don’t want to/have the time to get at the other side of the rifle
The stepped-up pyramid design isn’t great, but I think it’ll resonate better with users if you nixed that design and went with a more acute triangle design, with the point facing up and the would be opening down. On the upper portion it could be knurled to make it easier to pull down, and if we NEED to actuate the bolt catch, well same concept- we’ve more than enough room to push up on the lower portion to actuate it.
