Been to the range a few times and me and shooting buddy have both concluded there is something off with the mag well/catch. It is super tight in that the only time it seems to accept a magazine in the AKV smoothly is if the bolt is open. Not feasible to try Tactical reloads.
Does anybody have experience with this?
Are you using magpul magazines or psa magazines?

I’m wondering if I should be shaving that tab at the front of the magazine. I noticed that even if the mag release paddle is pushed, the mag doesn’t drop. The problem is when the magazine is loaded, its hard to insert with the bolt closed. And when it is empty, I do have to “pull it” rather than the magazine just dropping out
I had the same issue. I inserted the mags then looked for the rub marks on the mags. I lightly sanded the rub marks and repeated until they worked. Now they load and drop out flawlessly. I have 8 mags so it took some time to finish them all but they work. Honestly wish I didn’t have to go through all of that work but loving the AKV so I won’t complain too much. Lol
