Edit: B5 responded with “5-40 x 5/16 with no torque, just hand tighten”
my mistake was thinking the polymer trigger guard would install the same with the same hardware as an aluminum guard…but I need a set screw for the front and cant find the recommended size anywhere. Does anyone know off the top of their heads?
Maybe a good excuse to stop by the hardware store.

They come with the front screw usually installed so that it doesnt get lost. Is it threaded into the hole?
nope, just an empty holes…
I can run the trigger guard into the hardware store and see if I can find something that works if no one knows. Or I suppose I can email the manufacturer…
I see “1/16” listed, a different forum mentioned a 5-40 x 5/16" set screw.
I’m reading I can drill it to fit lol…so much info. I thought this was gonna be easy lol.
this guy says the predrilled hole is not the same size as the most commonly provided set screws
he uses a 1/8 drill bit to make the hole bigger by hand
saw some amazon knock offs but didn’t know if I could trust em.
if it were me id just go ahead and take it into an ace hardware and get the right set screw there… they have a great selection usually and you can usually find just about anything you need.
Unfortunately due to the rise in crime reducing their business by 60% and their profits by probably all of it and then some ,the main Ace franchisee in my area folded a few years ago. I do have the big 3 real close, and there WAS a smaller ace up the highway a bit but I dunno if that one is even still open. Hardware stores are def on my agenda.
yeah, im not sure if the big3 would have those in stock or not. i do know amazon offers a nice assortment of packs that have assorted sizes of thread and sizes of alan key to use with them. thats a bit more difficult than just finding one, and more expensive as well.
well there’s also Tractor Supply and Fleet Farms scattered about.
i always forget about tractor supply… they may have it… i’ve never shopped / heard of Fleet though…
good thinking there however… best of luck!
Fleet Farm is like if Walmart ,Menards, a cheap run down auto parts store, the hardware/fastener section at Ace and a farm had a baby…and it was big …that’s what Fleet Farm is. And they hire good looking rural woman instead of soccer moms.
i wish we had menards and fleedfarm here now.
I miss my hometown ace store, half the store was ankle to ceiling bins of hardware.
sounds like a good old school style store… i miss those.
They just opened up a Gigantic Menards in Joplin, MO. The Wife and I went to it a couple weeks ago - we spent over two hours (until they threw us out at closing time!), and I think we got through about a Third of the place…
Luckily, the three local Ace stores were bought up by a semi-local chain - T.H. Rogers. Not quite as much stuff, but I think it’s just that there’s really not as much available TO them to stock.
