Praying for Greg and his family. Greg, if you’re reading these comments I hope they strengthen your resolve. You are missed.
Negative test
Testing tomorrow for international travel. Everyone cross your fingers please.
Even more stressful is the test to come back…
still praying Greg… I agree with what iznthesky said, our intellectual value has dropped in your absence. Plus im jonesing for some more photos of that collection… get well soon sir.
I have an update from Greg’s wife…the following is a direct cut and paste…
Hey buddy, I know you won’t see this for a while, and I told your wife I’d back off…
Can’t help it, sorry.
People are still thinking about you…a lot. And still praying for the both of you…a lot.
Just wanted you to know you’re not forgotten. Someone posts something about you or your recovery daily over there at PSA.
We’re with ya brother
Hi. This is XXXXX his wife. They were finally able to get him to CT scan yesterday. He has some sinusitis. We thought he had a bad tooth before he got covid because he was supposed to have some dental work done. No bad teeth showing on scan. The expected lung changes one would expect with covid. However he is opening his eyes when they’re doing something he doesn’t like such as getting a nasal swab and turning. This is good. Pray that this new infection they found will be cleared with the new antibiotic they started today. He had been having fevers on and off but all lab tests kept returning negative for any source of infection and now I think we have a chance of getting his lungs cleared up. I don’t check his text much but I hope this will give you a little hope and comfort. Jesus is our source of all strength, comfort, and hope.
Is he still on a ventilator?
Yes and they are waiting on certain levels on his ventilator to drop lower before they can put a tracheostomy airway in. Hoping that won’t be the case but God is on the throne and if He wills it . .He is able and still does miracles
Thank you. He’s still holding his own and fighting.
And you continue to recover?
If she responds further I’ll update, but I’m done asking questions. I just want her to know that everyone is concerned for her recovery as well. Greg will need his wife and son to help him pull through this.
Extreme example of what Covid does to your lungs…
My case was no where near as bad as Greg’s, and my scans looked nothing like this, but there was obvious damage on my scans.
My hope and prayers are that his lung damage is minimal, and his scans look nothing like this.
Thanks for the update. He has lots of prayer warriors here.
I saw the update, and I will admit I was afraid to look. Thank You for the update, and passing along our concerns and well wishes.
I have another long distance friend in PA that just lost his parents to this; his Father just before Christmas, and Mother on New Years Day. It was a Relief that this wasn’t a report of another loss, but I know Greg is not out of the woods yet.
When you finally read this Greg, have a good chuckle at our expense - but also marvel, as I have, at how Strangers on a forum from all-over the country (and the world, even!) can come together and actually CARE about each other.
We’ve all got a Vested Interest in seeing you back here on the forum, now.
Get Well Soon, you are in our Prayers.
Thanks for the update. Her words remind me one more time that He’s got this. Hang in there Greg.
Same here. Was in the hospital 9 days with pneumonia from strep and pneumonia from covid. Home now on oxygen.
Thanks for keeping us updated. I was in the same boat as TheAirHawk about looking at the update. But I’m glad that, if anything, it hasnt really gotten worse. Here’s to hoping the next update is better!
NEW UPDATE
Direct from Greg’s wife
I had some good news today. They were able to turn his sedation and oxygen down a little on the breathing machine. He’s opening his eyes more when they turn him. His blood pressure is good. No temperature so hopefully the antibiotic they put him on is working now that they have found out organism causing this new infection. They have the best crew of nurses and doctors taking care of him.
Please continue to let Greg’s wife know that we are with her in spirit and prayer.
I’m sure I’m not the only person who clicks this topic every time there’s a new post hoping it’s Greg
I think we’re probably weeks before we hear directly from Greg
He will be here before you know it - everyone, get busy tidying up this dump!
I’ve known that but every post here and C&R a little part of me goes Greg?!?!
Me too
To my knowledge, no.
Greg will have excellent benefits though railroad retirement which includes his LTD. Health insurance benefits are top notch as well, it’s about all I miss working for the railroad.
As far as something for day to day expenses, I can ask?
@rockymountainjeep why don’t you ask and let me know via PM. I can run it by the PSA folks to see if they agree. I can’t speak for them, but know they have at times been very willing to help folks in need. That is part of what makes them IMO such a good company. They live and breath conservatism, which to me is being good stewards of all we have and attend to, including our fellow neighbor.
