Your youngest son?
What a gut punch……sorry.
Praying and hoping Greg, your son and others get better.
I am at a loss for words.
Yes
We’ll keep your family in prayer along with Greg and his.
Dammitall, rocky.
Encouraging News on Greg, however. I predict we’ll hear from him (at least 2nd-hand) by the end of the week. We’re all praying for you, Greg. It’s the downhill straightaway now!
Now, personal issues - started feeling down around 5:00 this morning, by now I’m miserable. If not the Covidy, it’s the Flu……
There are 7 out with it today at my work, fixing to be more tomorrow, Methinks.
I feel terrible for those who are sick. All I can offer is my best wishes and prayer. This PSA Forum is comprised of really good people….and at least on this forum…they show their best so it’s hard not to be sympathetic to everyone’s plight.
I don’t know if it’s the appropriate thing to do……when I read a thread to click the “thumbs up” ? I like that as a group of forum friends that we care for each other….but I don’t want the thumbs up to be misinterpreted as to think that I like that someone to be sick. If you see a thumbs up……take that as “I Care…and…I Appreciate you allowing me to be involved.
Thanks.
Seems as if the flu is making a comeback. I guess mask wearing, hand sanitizing etc kept it in check last year, unless some of the Covid cases were actually flu.
As for me I don’t mind wearing a mask, I actually kind of like it. It has to frustrate the hell out of those facial recognition cameras in the retail stores.
Lol, back when everybody was wearing the masks everywhere all the time, I found it amusing that I could walk into Walmart fully masked with my CCW and nobody batted an eye.
Still waiting on results from my test. As for the flu, a doc friend of mine said he is convinced that even the common cold is going to come back with a vengeance because masks have suppressed our immune systems. That makes sense to me.
Yeah, my kids got the super-cold a while back. That wretched thing came back on them after they had thought they were past it - congestion, fever, all of it. 2+ weeks of nasty between them.
As a long time germaphobe, I have always weighed the cost/benefit of using anti-bacterial soaps and sanitizers. I typically opt for the sanitizers when away from home because I absolutely hate having an annoying cold or a stomach bug, probably as much or more than the full blown flu or something serious enough to keep me home from work.
I have sanitized religiously after departing any store, and before and after any visit to a restaurant. We don’t use anti-bacterial soap at home since we have a septic system, but I wash (and have for pretty much my adult life) my hands at least 10 times a day between work and home.
Having kids, particularly when they were young, that wasn’t a full proof plan to keep from getting sick, but it helped reduce my annoying colds and such significantly. And now that they are getting a little older and are less likely to be absolute germ incubators and carriers, my ability to avoid the nuisance cold and flu has been solid for a while.
That said, I did get Covid from my daughter, who we believe picked it up at church. But, besides that, I haven’t had any illness since well before Covid-19 was a thing. Am I reducing the effectiveness of my immune system? Not any more than I was pre-Covid. The difference is that a whole lot more people are acting like me, and that has cut transmission of a lot of the normal illnesses significantly.
I suppose that is why, when people do get a cold now, it’s a bit closer to the flu in the way the body reacts.
Generally mask wearing is the only real change I have made due to Covid. Well that and not eating in indoor restaurants. I have always used Dial soap from the time I was a kid,
My wife on the other hand has always used hand sanitizer after leaving stores. She will not touch a public door handle either. If it’s not an automatic door she will pull her shirt sleeve over her hand like a glove and then open it. It’s too funny to watch.
Missouri has been an “Open Carry” state since 1821 - so I would Mask up and Strap up. I found it hilarious.
My oldest came home from school sick today and went straight to bed
Guess we’ll see tomorrow or maybe Friday if he needs to be tested
Wow, I’m ashamed of myself for not seeing this until now. I read start to finish, very heart warming to see the community support here. Prayer sent and Godspeed to your recovery. If not before, you now have the whole state of SC in your corner. Not sure anyone else was from the upstate.
Greg,
Still earnestly praying for you, your wife and your family.
Praying for all here and around the world that have been affected by this evil. Those who have been affected personally, physically, economically, emotionally, socially and yes, spiritually.
The human race has been through many natural attacks over thousands of years- seems like this hellish attack is not completely natural- getting worse instead of better- even with all of mankind’s knowledge and science.
Of all the egotistical maniacs and superpowers that have tried and are trying to rule the world, a little ol’ God created, man altered cell is kicking our cans all over the place.
Do you think that it might be possible that we could all be a little more kind, a little more benevolent, a little more merciful , a little more forgiving of/for one another- or is it too late?
Just thinking.
@Darkcorner….interesting sanitation habits: I was a US Border Patrol Agent about 24 years ago….and BP Agents wash their hands ….1st thing when going into the restroom……after they wash…they use the bathroom. When I was new, I asked about this practice…as I observed all the regulars practicing that. They explained to me that they came to work…clean and sterile, however after handling great numbers of aliens…their hands were certainly contaminated….and before touching the “clean parts” of their bodies….they washed their hands. Thereafter I began washing my hands before shaking hands with the President. Today you can still recognize these former agents through their unconventional habits.
That reminds me of an old joke about people who don’t wash after using the bathroom saying they were taught not to piss on their fingers.
