Thanks
No problem, any time.
is it just me or does the barrel look sorta like mine in spots? or is it the shadows
Kida hard to make out specific details. In that picture.
My biggest concern is lead and copper build up, which could lead to over pressure.
New barrel should have clean machine work.
I was not happy with quality of product, PSA has lifetime warranty, so I am ok, working with them to get this issue sorted out.
Although there are machine tool marks visible……no one has commented on how the pistol shoots. I have seen barrels similar to those pictured……and the owners were oblivious to the barrel condition……they thought that the pistol shot well.
As far as over pressure concerns……it’s a 9mm. There is more than enough barrel material there to ensure it’s safe operation. You are NOT going to get enough copper or carbon buildup to cause an obstruction….with a normal shooting interval ……even if your a neglectful in cleaning.
Mine shoots very well. I looked at the rifling in mine and didn’t see anything that really concerns me. Could it be prettier, yeah but safety and functionality are my main concerns. I am up over 500 rounds and have had no issues.
I think you are missing the point.
I have bought multiple guns from the factory and never seen a barrel look this bad. The question is durability. There is talk on the Glock Talk forums thread where a guys barrel looked similar and he has 1500rds through it and the barrel rifling is smoothing out.
Most people don’t shoot the round count to notice things like this. Most buying these guns probably go out into the desert a few times to go shooting with their friends and barely put rounds through it.
I understand what you are trying to say…but I am getting occasional fliers as well.
I understand having a new handgun and the disappointment in seeing rough machining or tool marks. Quality control should have noticed somewhere along the line. No doubt that PSA will make it right.
But as far as durability…who ever claimed that after 1500 rounds, the rifling in the barrel of a Glock….was smoothed out……sounds like a “Sig Fan” who is trolling the Glock forums…or it was posted on April 1st. Either one is more likely.
Neal my apologies for missing your point. It is neither the worst barrel I have seen nor is it the best. Do I think that it could have been finished a little better, sure, but mine shoots just fine and for a round count that I am sharing with others, it is simply my experience of the initial break in. Apparently people are experiencing some issues with the barrels based on the conversation here, I am not trying to downplay or minimize an issue that doesn’t seem to impact me. After inspecting mine, it isn’t my issue, I wish you the best of luck with getting it straightened out to your satisfaction.
Also FWIW, the pre gen 5 Glock barrels will be quite smooth in a polygonal rifling type of way.
my response was actually to iznthesky but thank you.
Josiah has me squared away and it will be off tomorrow to PSA.
This is not BMW or GM - Both companies Infamous for Ignoring/Denying Problems until they went away……
That’s an impressive response……
It speaks volumes for their reputation & inspires confidence in future buyers.
Hell yes…. I’ll stick with PSA.
I will post update when I get my pistols back.
Day 33, and counting…
Not sure I follow. Are you saying that you are being ignored - or the opposite?
Understand that I am not belittling any negative experience you may be having.
PM sent.
