I’m thinking about buying this combo -
And then I’m reading the reviews at Amazon -
Does anybody have an electric leaf blower or weed whacker that they LIKE ?

i’m of no real use here, and maybe it is because i bought a cheap weed whacker from black and decker that used my same 24v lithium drill batteries, but i dont trust the electric stuff, as my experience with what i just mentioned really sucked. it never really performed like i had thought it should, and it killed the battery much faster than i had though tit would, and it was underpowered too to cut through bigger weed clumps.
i wish you luck with the Ego stuff. I have heard they are good, but then again, i prefer gas 4 cycle weed eaters.
I use Ryobi. Bought it at Home Depot during their Ryobi days.
Use both. We have used Black & Decker blowers and weed trimmers for about 30 years. If you keep up with it, they are good. On larger areas, thick weeds, gas powered. There are heavy duty electric ones, Milwaukee is a beast, but heavy and bulky. Have used those too at work. We also have a Husqvarna 6.75 hp 21" walk behind weed trimmer. Depends on what and how much trimming needs to be done. Ryobi makes decent tools, their weed trimmer probably does a good job too.
Beware battery powered riding mowers. Horror stories - read reviews. First year can mow an acre, second year half acre, third year need new battery to the tune of $2,000 - $3,000. Plus they cost $1500-$2000 more than gas model to begin with.
We have three Ariens 46" riding mowers, all approaching 10 years old. Still going. Yes I have had to replace spindles, belts, some tires and weld deck and anti-scalp wheel brackets. But motors (Briggs & Stratton - made in South Carolina) still going strong.
Well, I like working on stuff, and know quite a bit about motors, and electrical components and wiring. Plus I am a cheapskate and keep stuff til the wheels fall off. - Then I put them back on and go some more.![]()
I have the Milwaukee one, and like @bonamoleonard said, it is a beast. I’ve most recently used it like a handheld brush/bush hog, dealing with 3’ tall grass.
That said, I much prefer the gas powered ones. The balance is actually better having a small engine hanging off the back (you can use it a lot longer without getting tired) and you can go a lot longer on a tank of gasoline than you can a battery, just like with cars.
The only reason I have the battery powered one is that it’s convenient to take with me to our family farm 4 hours away and not have to haul a tank of gasoline with me. But if I had to choose, I would definitely spend a little more for the Milwaukee.
My Ego stuff has been great. Batteries are a bit on the heavy side but the life on them is fantastic. I have the combo edger/weed eater/pole saw, leaf blower and chainsaw. Have 2 batteries I split between them and probably need to charge them twice a month.
It kind of depends if you have a yard or a ranch. I have a small yard and my Black&Decker 20V string trimmer works fine.
The Wife was given the B&D 20v for a Birthday Present by her mom. I kinda sneered at it to begin with, but I was wrong. For general/light duty use, if you can get it cheap - it can’t be beat. Especially if you already have other power tools that use the batteries.
That’s the one I bought at Walmart.
I have 15 acres and mainly need to remove flammable grass etc. on 2 acres of it.
Thanks for all the replies !
I might go ahead and buy the Ego.
My Toro blower has been going for nearly 15 years and still going.
I would go Ryobi, but, that’s me. I already have some Ryobi batteries.
I have the Kobalt 80v. Weed whacker and blower along with the branch trimmer? These are great and battery life is really good. I have an extra battery so I can charge while continuing to work!
Welcome to the forums @NVHusker ![]()
i’ve heard good things about the Ryobi line… not much else about anything else for blowers and weed whackers.
Villian origin story
I’ve had black and Decker blower and trimmer. Short life, low power
I wound up getting two stroke Stihl. Nothing compares . Buy the best and only cry once lol
i’ve heard nothing but good about Stihl. that would probably be the way i’d go if i could use lawn equipment anymore.
I have the EGO stuff, backpack blower, hand held blower ( for the tight spaces), trimmer, lawnmower & 16" chain saw. Got the lawn mower first and was impressed that led to the trimmer and eventually the blowers. Probably got theower around '19 or’20 and the rest in a year or so . I use all of them alot, the only problem I had was the trimmer motor broke but it was probably my fault for going after some really thick brush.
Definitely Stihl or Milwaukee. Dewalt and many other tools have really gone dowhill from what they used to be.
