A couple of weeks ago I ordered an 8 pos. gas knob for my 10.5" (shows “shipped” on 1/31, but UPS still shows they don’t have possession). In the meantime, I bought a 13.7" that came in today with the 8 pos. knob.
I shoot the 10.5" both suppressed and unsuppressed, so I decided to swap the 8 pos. knob over from the 13.7 while I waited for the ordered knob to arrive. That’s when I ran into an issue…
The 8 position knob has a wider flange (with the gas block having a corresponding wider slot) and thus they won’t interchange (which means the 8 pos. knob I ordered won’t fit). Was there a running change on the gas blocks at some point, or do the 10.5" guns not accept the 8 pos. knob? There wasn’t any mention on the product page of being incompatible.
Yes, the 10.5" has two plugs (the one in the pic is the “S” plug)…but it won’t cycle unsuppressed with the “S” knob installed. Rather than have to swap knobs if I removed the suppressor while shooting, my intent was to have one knob for both.
I didn’t anticipate PSA using two different gas blocks for the two guns…and it would have been helpful if they’d mentioned that fact in the product description for the 8 position plug. When they finally do ship the one I ordered, I’ll have to turn around and return it.
I’ve got @ 10k rounds of various 55gr. for training…ran four different types (PMC X-TAC, Norma, Federal, Winchester) without getting 100% reliability. I figure it’s cheaper to try opening the gas port on the plug (and buy a new one if I screw it up) than to buy different loads to try out and stock up once I find one that works with both plugs.
Months after listing, the product page still has zero detail indicating that it’s for 13.7" and up uppers only. I wonder how many of these are sitting in the bottom of parts boxes from 10.5" owners. Silly.
