Glock Mag vs. PMag for Dagger

I have 4 Daggers and love them. I carry a Dagger frequently for EDC. I have heard YouTubers say that they would only use PMags for range but always carry genuine Glock mags for EDC. Opinions? Daggers ship with PMags. Are Glock mags really more reliable? I’d be interested in seeing what others think although we all know that YouTube NEVER lies.

I use glock mags with my dagger since i own a gen 3 19 i had some spare glock mags laying around. I never tried glock p mags and since I only use glock oem mags with my 19 and dagger that what I stick with. They cost more but I think glock oem mags are a solid option for self defense/ccw use.

I concur and do the same

I’m pretty much just the opposite. I have never used a Glock mag in my Dagger. I have 3 Pmags and have not had a problem with any of them. I’ve read that the Glock mags are plastic covered metal while the Pmags are plastic and the Pmags fit a bit looser in the Dagger.

Glocks have a metal liner on the inside of them and I prefer them myself. I feel that makes them more rigid and less likely to have potential issues

Edit: I have plenty of Pmags that I run at the range. I prefer to carry OEM.

The only thing I’ve had issues with on Pmags are when running steel cased ammo. Occasionally it will be hard to load due to friction, but I haven’t had feeding issues with it. Only when I used some ammo that I let rust, which even my OEM mags get stuck with.
After about 6 years of constant use, I finally have one Pmag failing to lock open last round, but otherwise functions fine still.
I do have OEM mags and use them for my carry, but I’ve put Pmags through way more at the range and they hold up fine.

do you guys find the OEM mags to fit better in the Dagger? My Pmags a little loose but stay locked up just fine and I have never had an issue with them dropping.

I just checked both my dagger and g19 gen3 both have some play but not loose. There is some play even with oem glock mags but nothing that will affects its function.

Both Glock and PMags have slight play to them, it hasn’t caused any issues as of yet for me.

Regarding original question, my PMags have ran flawlessly, so I sometimes use them for EDC. It’s whatever is in the ammo safe at the time.

I had some 1st gen pmags loose last round bolt hold open or slide lock. My large hands tend to sit on the slide lock lever, so not a huge issue. The gen 1 mags are range only now. Ive not noted the same issue with the newer pmags.

Ive run both OEM glock and pmags as edc carry without issue.

I believe Shadow Systems pistols ship with pmags, and that is all my one buddy runs in his edc.

Shadow Systems builds an awesome gun. Tell your buddy that, if he’s ever involved in a defensive shooting, the cops will confiscate his $1k gun for their investigation. He might be without it for months. I quit carrying my Shadow and now carry a Dagger.

The bunch of mags given me as part of my optics ready Dagger deal work great. The only glock mags I own are for the 40SW (manly).

PMAGs for the range, Glock OEMs if it’s going to go to work.

I sold my CR920 and used the money to buy an AK.

And I have a Dagger for EDC.

Last I checked if you send them the info they will replace the gun for you. One of the big deals with Shadow Systems.

I don’t understand the distrust for pmags? Did something happen that showed the were not trustworthy? Was there a recall or something? I carry it every day and at the range they never caused any issue so I don’t worry about them. Should I?

I’m not suggesting you should worry about PMags. They have always worked fine for me also. The question arrises because of things I’ve heard YouTube “experts” say; OEM == Good, PMags < Good. No basis other than “expert” opinion.

I’ve never had a problem with a Pmag, but I use Glock and save the Pmags for tossing lead.

If I used Pmags for EDC, I seriously doubt it would bother me.

The most common problem I’ve seen with PMAGs is a failure to lock the slide open when empty. That’s not to say they’ll do it every time, but it has never happened with Glock OEM mags.

I always figured you should train with what you plan to work with. If I felt I would only use OEM for carry purposes I would train with only OEM mags. I practice with pmags so I carry pmags. No surprises.
