I know this might be a dumb question but I saw this video and it really caught my interest. The top comment on that post says he’s milled it out a bit and that it’s worked well. Looking for any more info on this before I send it. Thanks.
The upper in the video is a Gibbz Arms KS-47 compatible upper and not one he milled. I believe that with the Gen 1 KS-47 lowers, some people were able to get them to run different companies uppers with some mill work, but it was hit or miss.
Long story short, if you have a lot of machining knowledge you might be able to get one to run, but it’s tricky. The KS-47 Gen 2 upper is about 1mm wider than a standard AR upper. It also has things like mag over insertion tabs milled into it and the BCG is machined to run more reliably, so there are a lot of issues you will have to address.

You could do what I did. Order a Gibbz Arms side charging upper, use the barrel and BCG from the BC upper, keep the BC upper for another project. Just have someone grind the middle lug from between the feed ramps of the barrel(well not literally) and send the BCG off to get the AK cut(about $50), champer two of the bolt lugs a little bit, and then use a rifle length buffer spring and the heaviest buffer you can find(not joking, I’m using a KAK variable buffer with all three tungsten weights). The Gibbz Arms upper comes with a proprietary cam pin for the BCG. It’s necessary, so order a spare.
That’s what I did and I have a 16" that has been great.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread. I also couldn’t find any info on this build until I did it myself. I was finally able to piece one together. Haven’t shot it yet, but it operates smoothly by hand, and seems to only like metal mags(thinner feed lips) vs pmags.
Here are the main parts/modifications you’ll need:
- 7.62x39 BCA Upper (side charging) with BCG - mill out the inside wall of the magwell so it matches the magwell of the KS47 lower.
- KS47 Lower
- KS47 BCG - replace the cam pin on the KS47 BCG with the BCA cam pin.
Everything else, your choice of furniture to complete your build.

Use their carrier and psa bolt.

Hhmmm I should utilize the bca bcg with the psa bolt huh. I’ll try it out like how it is currently first. I’ll post a video when I do get around to the range.

The PSA BCG is machined differently than a Mil Spec BCG. It has more material removed from the bottom to allow it to clear the feed lips of AK mags( maybe why you’re having an issue with polymer mags). The KS-47 upper also has two over insertion tabs to keep mags from going to deep and hitting the bolt. Just a couple of things to remember.
