I have been looking at replacing the heavy profile carbine length barrel on my 16" KS-47 build. Has anyone built one using a mid-length barrel, and if so, did you go heavy profile or medium? I had been leaning towards an 18" heavy profile but found a couple of 16" medium profile options that will reduce the weight by almost a pound. Just wondering if anyone might have some insights. Thanks
I haven’t changed anything subtantial on my KS but I’m eager to hear if you do. I love mid gas pencils on my 5.56 but I expect the KS will be a bit more picky on cycling. Post updates if you move forward on it. Where are you looking to get the barrel from?
@sean.psa is there any chance that PSA might make a 16" mid-length gas system barrel for the KS-47? I made an 18" mid-length upper and it’s great but the additional length of the barrel kind of defeats the purpose of using a mid-length system. I am hoping that 16" or even a 16 cut down to 14" would help with recoil mitigation. I’m hoping getting the gas port closer to the end of the barrel would help a great deal. I get why PSA would use a carbine length for reliability, but there are plenty of us who would love to experiment a bit.
I know I’m reviving an old thread, but I too would like to know if a mid-length gas system barrel works with the KS-47. I am hoping to use wooden handguards that fit mid-length gas systems. (The type with delta rings).
It would be amazing if PSA makes a mid-length gas barrel.
mid length gas pencils.!! i second that one, remarkable
