Have no illusions. This is political grandstanding at it’s worst. Beetlejuice, or any other Chicago mayor for that matter, will never do anything to stem the tide of violence in that city. She simply will never approve the hard measures that would be required to be effective. So what is a good little commie to do? Have a staged, pre arrainged meeting with the head commie and pretend to ask for help in dealing with guns.
So now we can expect a gift of federal money that will never be used for the intended purpose and Biden can add this as another chapter in his anti 2a agenda.
Sadly that is indeed to strategy. Foment and support disorder, condemn law and order and defund local LE, commit your heroic and loyal federal forces, who begin to round up the extremists who object to the policy.
I abhor politics and political discussion because regardless of how civilized the discussion is, it remains devisive.
As much as i respect freedom of thought and speech, and as neutral as I must be in regards to being a moderator, if i had my way, i’d lock every one of these threads. So long as y’all do not devolve into being abusive to each other or become vulgar in your remarks about each other’s teams, I am not inclined to lock these threads.
My line in the sand is visible but fair. If y’all cross it, i will take swift and strong action.

Yep. IMO-A good example of the differences between two sparring ideologies would be the way Conservatives see these Leftist-Marxists and the way Leftist-Marxist see Conservatives. Conservatives see Leftist-Marxist with fault and can be corrected. It can be corrected through dialogue, debate and conversation to exchange the flow of ideas and values. Leftist-Marxist see Conservatives as evil and must be purged of the land. One side see rational, reasoning and critical thinking and the other thinks Conservatives are beneath representation. A lot of emotions are flowing through National Politics right now. How do you reason with your neighbor that wants to burn your house down and exterminate you? I do hope someday cooler heads will prevail.
Cooler heads is certainly a good thing. As for this forum, we as moderators also have to keep in mind that things posted here are also a reflection of PSA and their sister/parent company(ies). We gladly volunteer for this role and PSA trusts us to always make good decisions in regards to them and this forum. I echo @SuperPredator 's remarks, and remind everyone this is first and foremost a gun forum, not a political one. I don’t know that PSA will change the rules in regards to political posts, and I honestly hope the users on this forum don’t push it to a point that it needs to be discussed.
A lot of passion and emotions are in National Politics. It should promote and encourage information exchange such as this forum. It can attract others to your website and maybe potential customers. 
Alright. I started this thread and if you and other moderators think Political Issues are too hot to handle I’ll dial it down and won’t post another Political subject on the General Discussion Page. 
That’s not what i want at all. I just want the discussion to not be ugly, and it’s so easy to happen because we all can be passionate about rooting for the home team and booing the away team.
We often forget that history’s worst atrocities were made easier to perform because they dehumanized their rivals.
Its all Kool and the Gang. National Politics is comedic gold for me. I find it amusing how some of us find “Words mean violence” without the action of actual violence. Too funny. Some people actually take offense to the air people breathe. I don’t know how some people function in day to day society by being so thin skinned. Have a nice day.
I will again echo SuperPredator. I think in order for this to work we all have to remember that we are all on the same side.
Well can I make a suggestion to the moderators here. Instead of punishing everyone by closing an entire political thread why not just enforce a temporary ban or a temporary mute on the people who get out of line in a political thread. You can send a warning like you have done in this thread to let everyone know that the limits are being pushed. After that whoever takes their post too far can’t complain when they get punished for violating the TOS.
We need discourse in our Country today. I have read through this thread and I have kept an open mind. I have seen some valid points on both sides to consider. Understanding someone’s opinion that is different from yours at least help you see their point of view even if you both agree to disagree. I always want to hear other people’s opinions because it helps me to be able to better debate someone on a subject when I really understand where they are coming from.
We could spend all our time doing that. I try to read every new post on this forum. I try to respond with helpful info where I can. I know other mods do the same. The more this place grows, the harder it becomes. And it is not only an issue here. The other forums I am on are the same way. Put a bunch of people in political forums, and even if they all agree on basic principles, it gets out of hand.
One other point that I would like to make is, we are not all on the same side here. I hate to break it to some people but I know plenty of people who have grown up hunting and fishing. They have been around guns all their lives and own a good bit of hunting rifles, shotguns and handguns. They tell everyone that they are pro 2nd Amendment. That all changes when you bring up an AR or an AK. Then all of a sudden everything changes. They don’t understand why anyone needs one of those rifles. “You can’t hunt with those type assault rifles.” Is something that I hear many times. So someone who claims to be pro 2nd Amendment is only 2nd Amendment until a point then they become gun grabbers and support gun bans. Don’t be fooled there are an awful lot of these type people. The people with these beliefs will come to this type forum to discuss firearms that they like and approve of.
It may seem then that you need some more regular members to help with keeping things civil and threads on track.
Discourse/Dissent and having opposing points of view is good. What I don’t understand is how some people hold their opinion in such high regard that they won’t debate and act like a moody pouting child. I’m getting old and beginning to stop caring.
We don’t have to agree on everything. Just the 2A-that is what binds us and freedom
We would love that all the way around because that would make our job as moderators super easy. I just wish people would stick to guns. Political conversations, especially on a forum, will NEVER change people’s minds. Rush Limbaugh had millions of listeners a day, many of which were democrats when they started to listen. Although he changed the mind of some, even he admitted that he did not persuade everyone. We get so bogged down in the “I am right regardless” mindset (which social media has made 10x worse) and nothing will ever change it. It’s a waste of air to debate people with that mindset.
