Hope they release a shorty 300 BLK, like 6.5" ish, or even shorter. Instant buy for me.
In one interview they said at least a year out.
Looks like The Mixtape might be right up your alley.
It’s cool, but I want 300 BLK and I prefer the function and aesthetics of the JAKL 2.0
Probably not in the jakl platform.
The Mixtape is coming out in 300blk first and it will have standard AR15 lower. The 300blk Jakl is pretty tempting. I’ve been debating between the Jakl and Krink in 300blk, but keep buying other stuff instead. ![]()
In the announcement they said they moved the charging handle back so that they could offer shorter barrels than before, so here’s hoping!
Also, since I’m sure that actual PSA employees browse these forums for feedback, one small thing I think they should do for the Jakl 2.0 before it hits the market is to upgrade the safety to a Radian Talon 45/90, that is assuming that one of the AR-15 small parts that can be used in the propritary lower is the safety. It can be ambi or not, but really I think it’s long past due that the industry make something like the Talon the standard for the AR safety lever. ![]()
I own several JAKLs, but I’d love to see this in a short stroke version. If they’re going to re-engineer it, might as well go the extra mile.
Bro, that’s what I said! Keep the original Jakl as a long stroke system and make the 2.0 a short stroke.
I think they should go the SIG MCX Route where the lower is proprietary, but you can still buy the upper standalone and pin it to any standard AR-15 lower with the use of a stock adapter. I don’t feel too well about a fully proprietary rifle.
They already have that in the form of JAKL 1.0 though.
While updates to JAKL would be welcome, like a folding charging handle and slimmer hand guard, JAKL 2.0 appears to be a significantly different design. Cameron said in the intro video that JAKL 2.0 only uses AR15 grip, safety and FCG. That tells me it’s different enough that they might as well engineer things without regard to backward compatibility for the sake of optimal design.
I own a JAKL sitting on an Andersen lower lol. But alot of people are taking issue with the 2.0 having a proprietary lower. I understand PSAs thought process behind using a proprietary lower but it should still be able to mate with standard AR-15 lowers. PSA claims the 2.0 will be a supplement not a replacement for the 1.0 but that seems strange and redundant.
Not at all. They are not going to stop producing jakl 1.0s because they work on milspec.
As i look at all of SHOT, there is an emphasis on new non-mil spec lowers and the possibilties.
New ammo, new mags, etc. Seems that is where the industry is headed right now.

That’s what the JAKL 1.0 is for.

It would be redundant to release another piston gun that would do the same thing as JAKL 1.0, because the solution to mating it to a mil-spec AR15 lower is the same (using a buffer tube adapter).
By using a proprietary lower design, they can eliminate parts and make it a more reliable and serious design, simplify the supply chain, increase production, improve aesthetics, and offer a better product overall.
@Grievance You forgot to add updating the the 2.0 to a short stroke piston system. ![]()
That’s my whole point. You’re producing what is functionally the same platform except one has a proprietary lower receiver to it? I’m obviously not privy to the internal details of what goes on in PSA HQ, but at a surface level that sounds highly redundant.
I mentioned it on reddit but didn’t do so here. I feel like the 2.0 JAKL should be similar to the SIG MCX in that it has a proprietary lower as a complete firearm, but can be purchased as just a complete upper and mated to a standard AR-15 lower with the use of a stock adapter.
We dont know what the final itteration will be. It could be PSA starts to use those receivers for other guns. Given the sister companies (DPMS, Lead Star, AAC) we could start to see some cross industry compatibility.
Looking at the lower better…it reminds me of the old DPMS G3 small frame 308.
Me too!![]()
