Jakl 2.0 was not on my 2025 bingo card!

i concur. i see similaritys

I wish they would ditch the full length Monolithic Upper rail. This completely limits the end user customization and locks you into an upper configuration that you cannot change. For instance, look at MCX Spear & Virtus, you can change out the upper and lower hand guard to achieve more barrel cover/ovedlap, or less. Key features I think the JAKL line is still missing that would solidify this as a GO TO option! Loving the 2.0 updates nonetheless, but please ditch the full 1 piece upper that locks you to rail lengths!

Couldn’t agree more, why revamp it with the old gas system when you can offer a more flexible platform like MCX…though they did mention having more barrel comparability!

There are plans for different rails in the works. PSA has two options currently but has not offered them for sale on anything but complete guns.

I am a 3D modeler and have toyed with the idea of hacking the rail on a JAKL just after the charging handle to adapt a full upper+lower hand guard. This is sort of my train of thought. Maybe 2 different upper lengths (9–10” and 12-14.5”) but with more rail extension support. Iirc, there was a guy that used the bullpup hand guard for Jakl to extend his rail setup. I know this is a HUGE niche area being that the Jakl platform is not AR15… one could wish.

@brandongilbertmusic welcome to the forums! your idea is interesting.. i honestly havent ever thought about that concerning either of my jakls, as i never thought the handguards needed anything else. That said, i can see your interest though, and how others may want to add to, or remove some from.. much like folks do to the FN Scar handguards. or even the FNPS 90 bullpup barrels that they put extended Handguards on the 16’“ barrel over instead of getting a sbr stamp and cutting it back to 10.5 which is the way i’d go if i did anything to mine.
anyways, welcome aboard, i’m curious to see if you come up with anything and if you actually cut yours or model anything for the jakl up.

Thanks man and I definitely see your point, too! I’m at the point where I want more flexibility out of the platform, similar to AR’s. There aren’t many options for furniture and hand guards for the JAKL platform so I’m hoping the awesome PSA people take that into consideration for their 2.0 release.

they’ve mentioned barrel exchange options, also a lot of non CA owners with SBR or pistol configs Woo’s benefit from extended hand guard solutions, weather that’s aftermarket support or factory, I’d love to see it integrated. The 300blk, 308, 223/556 variants would really make this a unique firearm.

I’ll be mocking up some concepts to share here shortly, showing what direction I think could work well. I am a hobbyist 3D modeler as well.

Looks like the 2.0 is going to be a solid a advancement of this firearm. I was really hoping the initial release was going to add a .308 version as well as the 5.56 and 300blk. Hoping the JAKL 308 2.0 will follow soon behind the initial release. Who knows… perhaps PSA will surprise us HINT HINT PSA!

yeah, im not sure what all is going to be released in the Jakl 2.0 initially, or down the road to be honest. Initially arent they just going to offer the 5.5.6 product first?: thats what i thought anyways.

i kinda feel that way too.. to me its like jakl 1.0 is an evolution of an ar, where as 2.0 wants to be a gosh the dang gun slipped my mind now.. it was the magpul mosada, but i forget what bushmaster named it now.. . acr maybe? lol duh im an idiot.. but yea, that one…

i may have to get a 2.0 too just to have one, but i love my 1.0s

I don’t know where this fits, but the Olcan bullpup lower for the Jakl is coming. They say “this year” but I’m not completely certain if that is in the next 28 days or not. This was one of my top rated items from their poll, so I’m excited about it.

I’m a buy if the price is right,
A3 Industries made a JAKL bullpup chassis,
polymer for $400

The A3 version, iirc, was a weird combo where you needed a regular lower inside of the chassis. I think this is a lower receiver itself so no extra bits are needed. I hope. The Jakl is front heavy as it is, so a bullpup version could be interesting. But yeah, the price will matter. Still cheaper than getting a Tavor, Hellion, or any other, though.

So, has PSA moved past the concept phase? Any release date info, or pending videos?

They no longer provide those update videos on a regular basis. We dont know where they are in tbe process.

I concur

Personally I think the JAKL 2.0 would have made more sense with the ICAR/SIX8 lower. You have to use a proprietary lower anyway so why incorporate all of those improvements anyways.

Otherwise I feel PSA should have taken the same approach as the SIG MCX. If you buy the complete gun it comes with a proprietary lower. But you can still just buy the upper and pin to a standard AR-15 lower with an adapter.

its out now!! i so want one! look under JAKL on the psa site, i think new rifles are like 1300 but they dont have everything up right now cause they sold out a lot of stuff..

offered as just a lower so you can use your existing jakl upper in it..it takes every jakl upper from 10 inches up,
and they selling it in 10.5
13.7
14.5
16.0 sizes as assembled rifles..

SO AWESOME!!

Personally, I would choose the JAKL 2.0 over the AXR SSP because the weight doesn’t bother me, I just want something simple and reliable. Do people complain about the AK for its weight? No because it’s an AK and they’re known for being heavy, same idea with the JAKL. Please do not scrap the JAKL 2.0, launch it and also launch the AXR. I love the AK/AR hybrid design with the 2.0 and the proprietary lower was the right call.

The 2.0 is no more.
