What are some JAKL Upgrades and items you have on your wish list for it?
For me I’d like to see the following.
Folding Charging Handle - something similar to the Foxtrot Mike paratrooper charging handle. Just because it’s the latest hotness looking at some other popular rifles, and I collect for looks.
Ambi Charging Handle - Let me get the charging handle on both sides, I suck at weak side weapon manipulation. (If I ever get a 3d printer I plan to play with this idea)
Bolt Release redesign - I usually swap mine out with the larger style or the Troy industries bolt release. (if I can snag one, gonna try an ambi lower soon. Something nice about being able to drop the bolt with a finger)
Handguards - I want to be able to buy a slightly longer one, or upgrade to the one with the built in Pic rail like some of the new 556 offerings
Barrel changes - I’d like to be able to swap my barrel, or see the 300 Black Out offered in a 10.5. I like the 8.5 I have but rail space is really short, and I don’t think it’ll let me use the Reap Weaponries SCY
Bigger and Better - Super excited for 308 I’ve heard they are working on. I’m hopeful it’ll come with a longer barrel option. My state lets me us AR’s for hunting, and it would be pretty dope to use it in deer season.
Bullpup! - Reap Weaponries has a product called the SCY that they’ve confirmed works on the 556 JAKL and it looks pretty damn dope to me (check out their Instagram). Something about a bullpup using AR parts and patterns really calls to me. The standard bullpup options are either to expensive, or a lack of aftermarket parts, or just odd controls. I’d love to slap that on my 300 Black out or the 308 when it comes out. It’s a style choice but the heart wants what it wants.
Overall the JAKL is everything I like in my rifles, I’ve tried AR-10s, the Scar in 308 and 556, and a few other odd rifles (thank you range rentals) and the JAKL just does things better. It feels right in my hands and I’m super excited for the future, I’ve even managed to convert a few friends to it. Sold his 556 AK and everything.
What are somethings you’re wishing for or want to see? The old threads kinda felt dead and I’ve seen old threads on AR-15 forums, but this feels like the better place to host it.
A hand guard that is 1" longer to cover the gas block but not the gas adjustment. Maybe similar to the design of the new pic rail version one that will dissipate heat better (but without the pic rail).
Thank You Jammo, I wasn’t ignoring you, it turns out that yahoo is sending a lot of my PSA stuff to Spam. I was going to go out and shoot my Jakl today but having issues getting the suppressor mount mounted so maybe if I am lucky next weekend will work out.
I’d like to see a polymer replacement for the lower portion of the handguard to make the 14.5p/w look even more like the Rem ACR and mitigate some of that heat!
@98sj32115 you should look up the A3 Tactical Triad if you are in the market for a bullpup conversion.
Personally I would be excited to see a CHF CL barrel option for the JAKL.
