KS-47 Barrel Shim

Hi all.

So I’ve slowly but steadily received parts for an upper I’m building. I’m pairing a PSA 16” 7.62x39 barrel with the PSA 15” free-float handguard. While dry fitting the barrel into the KS-47 upper receiver, I saw that the timing of the barrel nut is going to require a bit of shimming. I’m confused about the size I’ll need…I’ve seen options for both AR-15 and AR-10 barrels. I don’t know which of those two “footprints” is going to match my setup. Im assuming the smaller, given that the KS-47 is much closer in size to a 5.56 platform. Anyone here have firsthand experience with a build that can make a recommendation? Thanks in advance.

It would be ar15 size. Also, if you have only hand tightened it keep in mind most will line up when you torque it.

Yessir- I’m tracking. It was about 1/8 of a rotation off kilter with hand tightness- didn’t want to season the threads and go full torque without having (possibly needed) shims on hand. Thanks for the info!

P.S. Would have avoided the drama if PSA offered the complete upper with a 15" handguard. Gonna be sexy with a suppressor on it!
