Was hoping that someone might be able to help point me in the right direction. I’m having an issue with finding a magazine that fits into my KS 47G2 I went into my local store here in SC to see what other options I might have for finding the correct magazine. While speaking with the staff I explained what was going on about none of the magazines actually fitting into the receiver after a few minutes we went and grab a magazine that he said would fit I explained that I have already tried everyone and that they don’t fit! So went took the mag to the counter and tried it on one of the KS 47G2 right off the wall and it did not fit. The staff were very professional and truly tied everything and every AK mag they had on hand but nothing fit into it and locked in position correctly. I have no doubt that PSA or someone on here can help. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks Y’all.
Please post a picture or video. It helps the forum members here identify precisely what is not fitting. Is it the magazine not fitting into the magazine well or is the magazine going into the magazine well…but the magazine release lever is not locking it in place. Similar to the photo below:
Iam guessing that they are not fully locking in.
For magazines that are going into the magazine well……but not locking in place….it’s an easy fix.
Use a small file and gently file the underside of the rear lug….as shown below:
Gently file a little……then test fit it, continue gentle filing and test fit. You should begin to see an improved fit as you continue. Continue until the magazine locks into place. Once you have fitted your first mag….fitting the rest of your magazines will be easier.
I caution you to resist the temptation of pulling the magazine release lever back into the locked position if you are feeling resistance. Applying pressure to the magazine release lever to close it can lock that magazine in the mag well……resulting in more drastic measures to remove it. Fit the mags so they lock in appropriately.
The KS-47 is a great 7.62x39 platform. The problem is……with most Eastern European surplus or commercial magazines, there is no industry standard specifying dimensions. Every manufacturer has their own spec that are often not the same as other manufacturers.
Thankful most will work with any AK or KS-47….as long as you are willing to take a few minutes to fit them.
Best magazine that I have found are the polymer PSA AK mags, Polymer Circle-10 mags, or Bakelite mags.

All the above. Ak mags are known to need some fitting in order to work. I love pmags, but lately i have seen lots of them need filing. Just this week i had to modify a magpul drum to fit my ar10.
