What do yall think? Does any of this look normal or should I be concerned? Only one range trip and 200 rds. Pretty much brand new.
There doesn’t seem to be any lubrication (maybe it’s cleaned off before the pictures). As for the barrel, not sure what to say about that - possibly copper fouling (?) but someone else will probably know. It’s interest that the “dirt” starts at the same distance down the barrel - could be where the bullet “bites” into the grooves.
I cleaned and lubed heavily with lucas gun lube before range trip. Cleaned again and ran bore snake threw barrel with hopps before taking photos. Shot 200 rds of sterling brass case 115gr. I can try hitting the barrel again with an actual cleaning rod I suppose. When I rack the slide back by hand I can feel some grittiness right about where that wear mark is on the slide, so it seems.
Are you keyholeing or shooting irregular patterns?
Everything there looks good to me, and looks better than my dagge, but then again i already have holster wear and a thousand rounds through mine.
No keyholeing. I’ll let her eat then and re-evaluate when I get closer to that 1000 rd mark.
what marking is on the side or top of your barrel? “9MM” or “9X19” and what does the muzzle crown look like? (pics would help) there were an unknown # of barrels that shipped out with early Daggers that had bad rifling in them. I’d personally contact PSA customer service and request a replacement barrel. Lord knows they’ve had to replace enough of them between the bad rifling batch and the batches of barrels with bad lug geometry - so they probably won’t give you any grief and will just send you a replacement. My experience requesting a new barrel was good; customer service was understanding and sent it out no charge ASAP.
It all looks good from the pics you loaded, underside of the slide will prob get a bit more shine to it over the next few 100 rounds.
It looks fine. All the dagger issues have been addressed. He only has 100 rounds through it and it isnt keyholing or anything other than hitting his target as he said.
I will check the markings on the barrel when I get home and let you know. However, it shot the first 200 rds fine with no keyholes or odd patterns. Was mostly concerned just because of other threads I’ve been reading. Gonna let it eat and if somthing presents itsself ill have it addressed at that time.
Did you paint that? It looks like the paint is coming off the side grip serrations.
Holster wear and use. The serations are fine. That pic shows shadows. But the slide does have shiny spots already due to my use. No biggie to me. All my carry guns have the same.
Mine is factory cerakote and yes it does have poor coverage on the grip serations. That’s how it came from the factory. Honestly I’m not very picky about cosmetics especially on a $350 gun. I only really care about abnormal wear that could indicate future reliability issues.
My barrel is marked 9x19. Tried cleaning with a cleaning rod, no difference. I decided to reach out to jamin to get his opinion on the barrel. Had a respose back within 10min. Sounds like he is going to send me a replacment barrel, no questions asked. Talk about great customer service. Because of this I just went ahead and ordered another complete slide for my p80 build. PSA obviously stands behind their product and that speaks volumes to me.
The barrel looks normal but like it needs to cleaned real well. #1 toss the bore snake unless you only use it go lube the barrel. Bore snakes, if used to clean, do nothing more than pick up all the grit and grime from you barrel, which turns tbem into round files! Unless you launder the thing after every use, which isn’t likely, that is what it becomes! Use a good coated rod and an undersized nylon brush (one that barely touches the inside of the chamber & bore) and a patch thick enough to make the brush tight fitting then use something like Hoppes #9 to wash all the gunk out then, if there is any fouling you want removed, use any one of the excellent cleaners todays market… Hoppes Elite (slow but effective), Shooters Choice, Butches Bore Shine, and one of my favorites, Wipe Out. If things are really bad, Sweets 7.62 or Montana Extreme but do not leave any of them (except Wipe Out) in your bore for more than 15 or so minutes! Wipe Out can be left in longer. When you are done, clean the bore out with alcohol to get rid of all the solvents, then oil it with synthetic or, if you want, dino oil, but either way oil it well (not dripping but fully covered!). Patches, especially on still-dirty bores should only go one way and then be discarded. Once the bore is clean, then they can go both ways. This will keep your bore in as good a condition as possible. Notice at no point did I mention brass or bronze brushes. Unless your shooting exposed lead ammo, you should never need one! Stick with the nylon and let the chemicals and nylon brush & patches do the work!

Thank you for the info. Sounds like solid advise!
The instructions are, I will admit, a bit on the extreme side but follow them and whatever your barrel looks like now it will pretty much look the same in 20 years. And it will shoot the same, too! Most people won’t do things like pushing a patch just one way. Even I cheat on guns that just don’t shoot all that well, like an SKS. Of course you have to pull patches back out with an SKS since you can only clean from the muzzle! But my Glock 40 looks like it might just be a real accurate shooter, so I’m going to be real nice to it until I find out for sure! I don’t shoot benchrest but I have a couple of rifles that could! So on those I always go to extremes to make sure I don’t screw them up, which I have before, unfortunately. It can be heart breaking, trust me!

I do like the less is more and better safe than sorry approach. “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure” or somthing like that. Thank you for taking the time to give a thorough explanation.
On the other hand…i dont clean my guns. My 45 1911 has thousands of rounds through it and still outshoots me all day long.![]()

My replacment barrel arrived today. Gave it a thorough inspection and all looks good. It is marked 9mm on the top of the barrel as opposed to 9x19 on the side. I heeded everyones advise and spent 20min cleaning the original barrel again using hoppes bore cleaner, patches and nylon brush. I’m by no means new to fire arms (10s of thousands of rounds threw multiple platforms including other psa products and this would be the first I’ve seen anything like this after only 200 rds) and although I was pretty certain this was not carbon deposits I figured maybe, just maybe, the barrel would clean out. As I suspected it did not clean out and what im seeing is indeed abnormal wear of the lands and groves. Almost looks like pitting. Will keep an eye on the replacment barrel and if it starts showing any similar signs I will just replace it with a factory glock barrel. Thanks for all the input and advise and shout out to PSA for getting the replacment sent out so quickly.
