Ive been having my Rock for a good while now, it’s my EDC weapon of choice. Probably twice or more a month, I go out to practice a few shots just to make sure its good to go. My last breakdown for cleaning I noticed my barrel has a lil lip at the bottom that meets the frame as well as wear on my slide. When I put the completed slide back on the back on the frame, the take down plunger doesnt go back in flush to the frame, kinda sits out and the slide is loose. I have to push the barrel back for it to click into battery and the plunger goes flush with the frame. I dont recall it doing that before. Attached are pictures of the barrel/slide in question.
While the gun is together, lock the slide back and then take a look at the screw at the front end of the guide rod. Be sure it is still tight down. The Loctite on Daggers sometimes comes loose also.
I just swapped only the barrel (not the guide rod) and the take down pin pops back into its closed position without having to push the barrel back.
Definitely that lip on the barrel that is causing the issue. Looks like that and the slide has some wear from being used over time. Ive probably put atleast 1000rds through it. Didnt expect barrel to do that so soon. May have to reevaluate my EDC options.
Did you happen to look at the “cam” on the slide? As best I can tell, this is what connects into those slots on the slide. Just curious if it is unusually worn too.
Oops, I meant cam on the lower, not cam on the slide.
@QuadScott Im going to check it when i get home. When I put the original barrel that came with it in (i purchased the RK1 threaded barrel combo after) it functions as intended. Take down pin pops back in after putting slide back on and racking. I noticed on that barrel that there isnt any wear on those points noted in original post so i figured that was the issue. I will check the cam when i get off work and upload a picture of that to see if there isnt wear or abnormalities.
Any more info on this issue? I’ve got a little over 700 rnds through mine now, there’s some wear, but not too bad.
