Cleaned and lubed up my new PSAK GF3, and took it to a range. After pulling the trigger, the trigger stays locked back, and I have to remove the magazine before I can manually push the trigger forward. I tried 6 different magazines, from the Magpul 30 that came with it, to Magpul 20s, and 4 different steel mags, from 10, 30 and 40 round capacity. Any thoughts on what might be the issue?
Make sure the springs havent slipped. And be careful, they are under a lot of tension.
Upon looking in good light (Inside), the right side of the hammer spring is too long, and pops off the trigger. I put it back on the trigger, and it pops off with 2 cycles.
Take some needle nose pliers and bending the spring a little. A reminder that the spring is under a LOT of tension.
Thank goodness I bought a PSA AK field kit! Replaced the hammer spring and all good to go. The original hammer spring is too long on one side and was even catching up in the bottom of the bolt when it cycled
Its not bent right but hard to tell in the picture.
It’s not bent right, and that lower leg in the picture is too long. It pops off the back of the trigger each time you cycle it.
This is my first AK, and taking the fire control group out was super easy. Way easier than an AR IMHO. I’ve assembled more than 40+ AR lowers, and have all the neat tools to make it easier, but the AK only required a pick, and a wire tie for the spring, and it all came apart in under a minute. Super easy to reassemble as well. So much easier than an AR to align the fire control group to put the pins back in too!
Sage advice that wire tie or a rubber band is. With it’s simplicity, it’s easy to get overconfident and not do that. You’d be surprised how much one bleeds when one or both slide off and stick ya. I know form experience unfortunately.
Yes, I use wire ties a lot for springs. I too learned the hard way many years ago.
A profanity cloudburst did occur!
Looks like an easy fix with needle nose. One side of mine slipped off the hammer.
Looks so easy, but when you put it back in place, it slips right back out of place on the next shot. Rinse, lather, repeat…
I’m having the same issue on my blem PSAK GF3. It’s like the leg wants to move farther in than it should when the trigger is held back and it cycles. It goes right under the disconnector and doesn’t let the trigger come forward unless I manually push forward on the trigger.
I wanted to send it in for repairs, but not sure how fast it will go and a little concerned because of Oregon’s Measure 114 trial in September.
PSA sent me a replacement spring that also had the same problem. I replaced it with an authentic Russian made spring I bought from " RTG Parts LLC", and it has worked perfectly ever since.
My $.02…main springs are cheap. I upgrade mine to the ALG springs anyway. $10 and you are gtg if you can change it yourself. No different than customizing an AR.
