I don’t prefer that slide at all, but the Dagger was practicality free in a combo deal. So I’ll work with it.
Now I’d like some suggestions for a red dot. I know there is a list of what fits the Doctor/RMR but my concern is more along the lines of what’s a good combo and value rather than what fits as I’m sure some red dots fit but they probably are not recommended. I’m not looking for top notch but I also don’t want airsoft quality. I’ve read and understand that a decent red dot will be in the neighborhood of $200 give or take.
I have the same question for a Rock thats coming (same story, great deal but not my cup of tea)
Im just old school and like a basic stripped down pistol. To me a defensive pistol has a barrel and a trigger and goes bang every time. I guess I’ll get with the times and bolt some accessories on it. Might even go with a can and have a tacticool toy.
I like this because it has no white logos plastered all over it and the texture will match. Its subtle and I’m the basic and plain type
I prefer green over red. If you have somewhere close go and look through both before you buy. Optimally, green/red, 6 MOA/2 MOA, circle / dot. +1 in the Holosun corner. I think Sig and Holosun in a lot of their models are one and the same.
Have you looked through various options yet to see which works best for eyes or which you may have a preference for? I think the one you got with the slide has a few different options for the reticle. There are some tradeoffs. 6 MOA dot will cover some targets @ 25 yds. I did go with a 6 MOA dot though. If it were for my son I would have went with the 2 MOA. My EOTechs have a 1 MOA dot but they of course are not appropriate for a pistol.
Two reasons for the 6 moa. First. Ive never used a dot that big so lets give it a try. Second, I may adapt the 6 moa to one of these Daggers as a home defense gun IF the gun gains my trust as reliable and trouble free. I currently have a Ruger P89 as my go to in an emergency situation. I figure a larger dot would be fine inside a house, etc. I love my Ruger but its big, heavy and does not support any lights or optics.
hey i wana say tho, that top slide would be really nice if you removed the iron sights entirely and put that dot on it, the interesting part is the dot sits back further! imo
I seriously was thinking the same last night. No silencer here, so the threaded barrel and sights look dumb to me. No reason to have two skyscrapers on top the slide. So I was thinking to swap them to normal low style sights, then it clicked to just remove them altogether because the rear sight sitting forward of the optic just looks unnatural and out of place. We shall see.
the front sight is low profile so i cant even see it, only there for aesthetics… i run it with no irons for a couple years. i practice not using sights at all on half body targets 25yards on in, just like watering a tree 10yards away with a hose its more of a natural but very fast method.
Swampfox hired one of the lead designers from Primary Arms when they were started. I dont think Mike is with them anymore but many of the features and manufacturing are similar.
