Hey there I’m curious on how I can remove my buffer tube, I got a zhukov side folding stock and would like to put that on the gun, but for some odd reason I’m struggling with the buffer tube. Any answer or recommendations with this would help.
I take it your castle nut must be staked and your having problems removing it?

Post close op pictures of your buffer & castle nut area
Welcome to the Forums! Please make sure you have either the Rifle model of the AK-V, or your tax stamp for the SBR before placing a Zhukov stock on the AK-V. If not, this will be creating an illegal SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) and we can not advise doing this.
If you have one of those two, there should be 2 (I believe its just 2) screws in the top of the trunnion, under the dust cover. Removing these screws will allow the adapter and buffer tube assembly to slide out the back of the firearm.
It was, but thankfully there’s lots of skilled gunsmiths around so they took care of it free of charge.
Thank you so much, the gunsmith told me about this too, and I already got finger printed at my sheriff’s office and already began the form 1 for the sbr. Crazy how I could’ve could’ve facing time in federal prison for a plastic item.
Yeah, it’s a lot more common than most people think. So anytime I hear someone talk about doing it, I make sure to point it out. Make sure you read up on the do’s and don’ts with SBR’s. If you’ve got a good FFL, they should be able to help. If not, we either already have a thread for it, or can easily get one started. There are a lot of tax stamps within the group of people here.
Okay ill read all of those then .
Going to piggy back on this topic, I ordered a JMAC SS-R8 stock that uses a picatinny attachment. They stated I needed the adaptor from PSA, PSA has several options, I ordered this one. Is this the one I needed? https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-custom-ak-picatinny-stock-adapter-assembly.html
Yes
Awesome, thanks! Its very frustrating when there is a ton of options and you’re not sure which one to get. Thanks.
Just the two screws inside the dust cover? That definitely loosens the buffer tube but it doesnt slide out. Feels loose enough to slide out, but its caught on something.
Pic? I think I know what you’re talking about but I think you may be calling the gas tube a buffer tube.

If you’re talking about the gas block and tube under the forend grip, and not the buffer tube under the stock - then if you have removed the setscrews it is probably a bit of carbon fouling holding it all together.
Judicious use of a light hammer will remove it.
no. i am referring to the useless buffer tube attached to the rear trunion, to which one would affix a telescoping stock or pistol brace.
thanks.
anyone figure out how to do this without a gunsmith?
Buffer tubes just unscrew from the adaptor.
What part are you having trouble with?
