Seems every 100 rounds or so my Holosun 508t keeps coming loose. I have used blue loctite on the screws and tightened them as much as I can without stripping the head. Any other solutions? Possibly red locktight?
Red usually involves heat or a lot of force to get it loose, not sure that would be the way to go.
I have never had my blue come loose.
Could be bad blue. I had some that we figured was around 10 years old. When I turned the bottle up a light blue liquid came out, not blue loctite. I think it separated.
Mines not that old. Maybe two years old. It’s cheap, I’ll go buy a new bottle and retry. Thanks for the input guys.
Most people don’t even know it exists, but purple Loctite #222 is the proper one to use for small fasteners. For lack of a proper scientific explanation, it essentially gets into the finer threads better than the others and has more contact area to “stick to.”
Quick question: have you degreased the threads of the holes and screws?
No more inertial forces being exerted on those screws than simply the slide cycling, should NOT be causing them to loosen, particularly with thread locker applied.
I probably did not clean screws or the holes before installation. When I get new locktite I’ll clean them up good before reinstalling. Thanks for the idea.
Which fasteners did you use, the ones that came with your Holosun or the ones supplied with your Dagger?
The Holosun fasteners are much shorter than the ones that cam with my Dagger. I honestly didn’t really look at them or see the note PSA included until after I installed my Holosun, snd then noticed it was coming loose. I need to degrease everything and install again. But maybe I need to use the PSA fasteners?
