I just received my Sub9. It comes with the Rugged RU3 mount, their bixler type device that securely connects the can to the AK-V. I also own a Obsidian9. I originally bought the Sub9 to be dedicated to my AK-V. But, I would like to try the can on other guns. My question is does anyone have any experience or any ideas what other manufacturers’ adapters would work on the Sub9 so I can use the Rugged booster assembly and fixed mount I already own. I understand the universal cage that Rugged sells would work but it costs over $170 and includes items I already own. I have already contacted Rugged about just purchasing the cage but they said that it is the only configuration in which they sell it. It includes the spring which I bought with my booster assembly and a tool that I received with the Sub9. Thanks for any help.
The sub9 is a fairly new can that IMO Rugged made to address the baffle strike issues with the Obsidian 9. Unfortunately Rugged decided to make it compatible with my their stuff as I understand it.
As an obsidian 9 owner, I hope it is a good can for you. Based on the issues I have had I will never buy Rugged again.
Yeah, Obsidian took some getting used to. But, Rugged stood behind whatever problems I had with it. Their warranty service is exemplary. I can honestly say any strikes I had with that can were my fault. I rushed wanting to try it out and did not properly mount it. You helped me out with the suggestion of the 3 lug mount. I just wish I could find a less expensive adapter so I may use the Sub9 on some pistols.
Says it’s HUB compatible. So if you want to use another manufacturer’s mounting system, keymo or anything else, as long as that manufacturer has a HUB adapter, you just unscrew the RU3, screw in the others’ HUB adapter and you’re off to the races. Just make sure that the suppressor is rated for whatever you put it on.
