Virginia Beach here!

So it appears that our general assembly has adjourned with little in the way of gun legislation this year. Barring a special session due to a conveniently timed gun-related incident somewhere, it seems the dem controlled legislature did not accomplish its goal with King Ralph to turn VA gun laws into NY/CA type gun laws.

Kudos to the VCDL and everybody that showed up in massive numbers and peacefully and uneventfully demonstrated a year plus ago on lobby day that VA gun owners would not quietly bow to tyrants. Huzzah! Now let’s see about voting these donkeys out in the fall!

Anybody know of outdoor ranges to use rifles?

Welcome! It’s probably a bit of a hike for you, but I used to be a member at Black Creek Shooting Club in Mechanicsville until I moved to where I have enough land to shoot on. They are all outdoor and have pistol, 25, 50 and 100yd ranges. As far as I know they are still in operation. And they were easily the least expensive membership in town back when I was a member, so it might still be worth it even if you don’t get there every weekend!

I was scolded for shooting to fast at that range. No rapid fire! So I won’t go back.
When I asked why I was told they were afraid of people shooting up. All of my 13 shots were on the paper and I pointed that out.
I shoot at a friend’s property now.

As they say, “His sandbox, his rules.” For hundreds of $$$ less per year and nowhere else close to shoot 100yds, I slowed it down to about a shot/second max, and was okay with it. He told me about it as well when I first started, said he didn’t want anyone inadvertently shooting over the berms and hitting a neighbor’s house. Now that I’ve moved out and gotten some acreage, I walk out the back door down to my own range and shoot on steel almost exclusively, as fast as I please. My sandbox, my rules.

Greetings, just moved out of D.C. to Alexandria. Anyone able to suggest a good range near here? I previously was suggested Elite Shooting Sports, would love to find an outdoor shooting range though.

I’d suggest Fairfax Rod and Gun Club in Manassas. There’s a long waiting list to join the club but they have a lot of competitions that are open to the public (IDPA, silhouette, etc).

Izaak Walton League has a club in Alexandria but I’ve never been there and don’t know how hard it is to get in.

I’m in the DMV area. I was previously living up in the People’s Republic of Montgomery County MD, and Massachusetts before that. So here I am, thinking I reached the 2A promised land and then Northam got elected.

At least it seems we avoided most of the nasty (certainly the nastiest) legislation King Ralph wanted passed during his reign. Thankfully, that will end before the next normal legislative session. Barring some kind of emergency action, things should not change, at least not until the people have a say whether or not the legislature deserves to remain in the hands of the donkeys.

It will be nice to see Northam go as long as we don’t end up with something worse.

You’re right about that. This next election will determine if the people of VA have woken up to what happens when you sit at home and allow the blue cities to dominate the elections, or if they will continue to be complacent and let themselves be stepped on.

Hopefully this past two years is just a blip, and things will return to a relative normal, without the bio-tyranny, wokeness, attacks on law and order, and constant threats to Constitutional rights. It would be nice to have budget surpluses and a business friendly environment again as well. Can it be done (with all the money flowing in from the blue state billionaires)? Only time will tell.
