That’s what I am talking about. I will suscribe to it once you get it going. Thanks again I will enjoy watching your thread and progress.
If you need someone to Hard Chrome or Nickle Boron coat it let me know. I have used MAHOVSKY’S METALIFE to hard chrome and NIB coat several handguns for me. Between the two coatings the hard chrome is bulletproof and the NIB is just about as hard. I like the finish and color on the NIB coating better than the hard chrome. It is smoother and has a satin finish like brushed stainless.
If you call or email don’t expect a response. Ron stays so busy that he just doesn’t have a whole lot of time for unsolicited communication. If he has a question he will get in touch with you. Ron is very good about letting you know that he received your firearm and approximatly when you will get it back. Usually in my case I had my firearm back finished in a little over two weeks. Download Ron’s order form and send it in with your firearm.
Thanks, amigo. The only part getting HC is the slide, and the challenge is to HC the side flats while Cerakoting (or similar) the top and bottom rounds, under-radius and cocking serrations.
Controls and mechanicals will be polished stainless, frame and MSH Cerakoted.
Ton of crap to do with holiday prep (Her Peevishness never met a simple plan like me handing out candy canes to service-sector people I deal with around the holidays and little goodie bags in recognition of Extra Mile customer service that she wasn’t pathologically compelled to turn into the biggest freaking Broadway Production possible), but I’ll try to get that started as a crosspost from DownRange Forum early next week. Maybe see about setting up my logons on the tablet and do that while little Frick the squirrel is having one of her “cuddle therapy” sessions on the porch.
This isn’t a long slide but it is the longest slide that I have on a 1911 counting the compensator. She is a sweet shooting old girl. I know why the Israeli military used them along with the Hi-Powers. Both are from the genius mind of JMB.
Well got the home defense shotgun back up and running better than ever before. I put in an oversized titanium bolt charging handle. I also bought one of the really hard to find V3 Tactical byoversized bolt release and installed it. Both additions greatly increases the ease of the operation of the shotgun. I have a feeling that many guys that favor the M4 might end up liking my custom setup Remington Tac 13 better than the M4. They both have advantages and disadvantages. Overall the price after upgrades ended up very close in price once everything is complete on them. The Tac 13 is so way more maneuverable and light compared to the M4. Big advantages when doing CQB.
I love that thing. I wish I could justify the expense. My home defense weapon is a very old Winchester 1500 pump with a Choate side folding stock and side saddle attached to the other side of thereceiver. It got so worn looking in my 22 years in LE that I had it Cerakoted after my retirement and it is leaned up close to my side of the bed. But dang, that Remington is beautiful.
Some of my favorite firearms are my old shotguns. @ltrly, Robert if you shot this Tac 13 you really would fall in love with how soft shooting it is with the dual gas pistions and with the Kyn-Shot hydraulic buffer in it makes it feel almost like a 20ga or 410ga. The follow up shots are pretty easy to get back on target since the recoil isn’t bad. Unexpectedly this Tac 13 really became my favorite home defense shotgun over my M4. I really didn’t expext that to happen because I absolutely love my M4. Better can always be had if you are willing and able to invest a little time and $$$ on just about any old firearm.
I updated my W. German Police Sig P226 with the Armory Craft super hammer strut, flat adjustable trigger, hammer spring seat with AC hammer spring, competition sear spring, Sig’s SRT kit and new Sig factory updated grips. This 226 doesn’t feel or shoot anything like it used to. It is so much better now. I also swapped in a new set of sig night sights.
Well Optics Planet finally got off of their butts and sent me my handguard. I got it installed today on my color mix AR. I like it because it is different. I love the RRA heavy barrel on this AR.
I found some used Remington factory trap high grade burl walnut for my Remington 1100. I used it to replace the plain blonde factory wood. The walnut burl has nice grain and colors that are hard to see in the picture. The old girl looks a lot nicer with the new wood on her. I inherited this shotgun from one of my uncles. I love doing little projects like this one to upgrade existing guns that I own to always keep making things nicer and more valuable.
Nice, love burled wood, especially gun stocks. Yeah, when I was stationed at Castle AFB, California (1990-91) - I was slap dab in the middle of walnut orchards, (lots of Almond and peaches, etc and other type farms.) Anyway, the tree stumps from the dead Black Walnut trees were sold for gun stock makers, custom furniture, etc and at the time Mercedes Benz for dashboard trim. Burled Walnut (IMHO) makes the absolute most prized gun stock material.
I have really nice walnut burl wood on the interior of my BMW. It is one of the things that I really like about my car. It does give you the sense of luxury.
Spent money at PSA. Anti-walk pins and a upgrade trigger.
Had my first experience with trigger pins walking since I bought my SP-1 in 1979.
It happened on one of mine built with an Anderson lower. Less than 500 rounds thru it.
How common is “pin walking” ?
