Features

Following complaints from long-range shooters, who were restricted to a 10 lb rifle weight limit by the NRA for competitions, Sharps rifle company faced challenges. shooters resorted to combining under-dimensioned barrels with the 1874 heavy frame, leading to issues of vibration and recoil. The resolution emerged through Charles E. Overbaugh, the sales manager at Sharps rifle company, who embarked on redesigning the 1874 frame model. This modification reduced its weight and facilitated the installation of barrels suited for competitive use. This initiative culminated in the creation of the 1877 model. Characterized by a broach rifled barrel of PMG quality and a forged frame, the rifle features an American walnut stock.
