Features
The 6.8 SPC II cartridge was developed under the Enhanced Rifle Cartridge Program to address the terminal performance deficiencies observed with the 5.56x45mmx45mm NATO cartridge, all while allowing soldiers to carry the same number of round with minimal weight penalty. By utilizing a heavier projectile, the 6.8-round delivers greater impact energy than the 5.56x45mm NATO across all effective ranges, effectively bridging the gap in lethality between the 5.56x45mm NATO and 7.62 NATO round. A significant challenge in using the 6.8 cartridge with M4-style weapons has been the lack of reliable magazines. To overcome this issue, we designed our SIX8 family of weapons around the magazine itself. In partnership with Magpul, a leader in polymer magazine engineering, we developed the first polymer magazine specifically for the 6.8 cartridge. The SIX8 PMAG incorporates many of the design characteristics found in the standard PMAG, including a curved shape and familiar texture. The body of the magazine is slightly wider and the walls have been reinforced in critical areas to ensure durability. A distinctive red follower makes it easy-to identify the SIX8 magazine among others. The upper and lower receivers of the SIX8 family are designed to accommodate the slightly larger polymer magazine, optimizing the feed geometry for the 6.8 cartridge. Like the IC family, the SIX8 weapons are fully ambidextrous, providing versatility for all users. In summary, our SIX8 rifles represent the familiar Stoner M4/AR-15/M16 architecture, fully optimized for the 6.8 cartridge, delivering enhanced performance and reliability for modern shooters.
