When will this be back in stock?
Tyler M on May 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Right now on 26 September 2018. I'm about to order one.
what is the weight of the upper?
ed t on Jul 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 3 lbs 10.4 ozs (without optic or sights)
Do you know when you will have this upper in stock?
jason m on Jun 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately I do not have an eta for production at this time.
Is this BCG compatible with a CMMG full auto adapter for use with a fostech echo trigger?
Caleb G on Jul 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used the Fostech auto sear and weighted forward assist, their auto sear is already “bent” where it meets the Fostech trigger lock and brings the lock forward to disengage the lock. The auto sear has to float freely, I don’t think the CMMG one does unless you clip off the two side tabs or “ears”.
I know it specifies blackdog mags, but will this function with cmmg mags or any other company mags? what are yall paying per mag? thanks.
Perry B on Aug 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes.. I run cmmg mags in mine and they run fine. Bolt locks back on last round as it will catch against the follower which is actually a nice feature to be able to clearly inspect the chamber to make sure there is not an unfired or unextracted round still loaded
Is the flash holder pinned on or threaded? I'm lookomg for a dedicated .22 upper than can accept a screw on suppressor, hoping this one will work.
J B on May 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The flashhider is not pinned. It has a standard A2 birdcage threaded flash hider with same threads 1/2 - 28 as all standard milspec AR15 barrels. I removed it an installed a different one.
Is there an eta of when these will be back in stock?

BEST ANSWER: Now 01/24/2019
What PSA Lower would you pair with this? Is there a complete one that is not a kit?
Andy From TN on May 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Any of the standard AR lowers will do. For 95% manual of arms compatibility, get a "Better-Mag" adapter to use SW-15/22 magazines.... Or better yet get an ARCatch-22 bolt catch replacement and use SW-15/22 or Kriss Defiance mags for 100% manual of arms compatibility.
Will the cmmg magazine work with these 22lr uppers?
John S on May 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes I had 3 25 rd CMMG mags that worked perfectly
this is for a products expert I think. What is the difference between the 22 rifle 6934 and the 8928 besides the Stainless Steel bolt group as opposed to the Phosphate one, $100, and the one is not in stock. But when it was it was $249. I just RECEIVED the 6934 on 7/24 and on 7/26 got the ad for the 8928. The SS Bolt can't be worth $100 more so what did i pay an extra $100 for? Thanks
Saywhat on Jul 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 8928 was sold as a clearance item at a reduced price. Besides shipping with the phosphated bolt, that item also came with a different styled rail.
Why not redesign this and put in a slickside upper receiver since the assist and bolt catch don’t work anyway with the bolt your using or change the BCG?
Harold B on Jul 16, 2018
Has anyone seen if their barrel is an M4 profile?
Emmanuel L on Oct 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Just received mine and no it is not M4 profile. It's much lighter. Not sure why the change and I'm a little disappointed, was hoping the weight would be closer to my 5.56 upper.
will this fit on a mil spec ar15 lower?
manovan on Jul 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I put this on an Anderson Arms lower I had built for an AR15 build. The pins slid in perfectly and it had no function issues at all.
Does this use a 556 lower?
joshhsoj on Jul 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The whole point of the upper is to fit onto a 556 / 223 lower, so yes.
Is it a last round bolt hold open?
Rrotz on Jul 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: yes the mag follower holds the bolt open not the bolt catch
Can I dry fire this upper or will it result in damage?
Daniel P on Oct 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Dry firing centerfire cartridges is different than rim fire. Excessive dry firing on a 22 rim fire could and likely result in dulling the firing pin and resulting in misfires. Center fires when dry fired strike nothing, rim fires strike the steel of the breechface.
What are the benefits of this over the Smith & Wesson MP 15-22?
Ak T on Sep 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Benefits, full weight for life like training. The m&p although a good rifle is light and feels like plastic imho. This upper is very solid and has not disappointed me at all. I’ve ran over 700 rounds without cleaning and it still works fine. I like to see how many rounds I can put before I start getting problems. I’ve can get quarter size groups at 50 yards with cci mini mags. I liked mine so much I got another and am planning on buying another soon. I was gonna buy a sw mp 15-22 for my 9 year old daughter but I figured she will grow into this one and can always change to a regular upper and not notice the weight difference.
What ammo runs best?
Stephen B on Jun 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I run CCI SV suppressed and it works great.
What are the benefits of this dedicated upper over getting the Smith and Wesson MP 15-22?
Ak T on Sep 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: IT gives you the ability to change to different calibers by simply switching out uppers.
Just bought one and it is one way. I am going to build a dedicated lower for it. Do I need to install a buffer and spring in the buffer extension tube to hold forward tension on the BCG?
Steve D on May 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It may work without the buffer and spring but they seem to help hold it forward. Both my dedicated 22lr ARs have buffers and springs in them.

What lowers will this upper fit ?
Guinn J on Jan 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This 16" 22LR upper should fit just about any AR-15 lower. One of the reasons I bought mine is so I can shoot 22LR from my AR lower to have the same trigger and grip setup. It looks and feels identical to my 16" 5.56 AR upper.
Newb question: does this require a different buffer spring and buffer to run this on my existing ar-15 lower?
JTC19403 on Feb 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No it doesn't, in fact it doesn't require a spring and buffer at all. Being just long rifle length, the bolt reciprocating assemble is all self contained. Having them in there doesn't effect operation either, so just put it on and fire away!
Is this barrel chambered for 22lr or 5.56 with an adapter/BCG?
Ben S on Jan 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It is a true .22lr upper not a 5.56 with an adapter. You get this upper then slap your lower from your current ar on it and get a few Black Dog Machine .22lr mags and you are ready to go.
Will this work with a standard PSA AR-15 lower.???
Anthony M on Sep 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It works with any Standard AR15 lower.
Do you use a standard lower for this .22 or upper?
John V on Feb 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Simple answer...yes. I use an Aero Precision standard lower. The only thing I change it the bolt hold open for a .22. These uppers will not automatically stay open but it can be engaged to hold the bolt open. A lower will still work just fine with OEM parts.
Does the bolt catch on my AR15 lower catch the bolt on this upper after the last round?
Drew S on Jan 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: S&W .22 ar mags with the ready mag adapter is your answer, it will hold the bolt open after last shot and makes the lower bolt release functional.
What all different brands of magazines will this up accept besides the madog mags? Thanks in advance!
Cabinetguy55 on Jan 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I use a Better-Mag adapter with the S&W 15-22 magazines. This works perfectly with this upper mounted on a PSA lower. In addition to fitting the mags perfectly, it also enables the last round bolt hold open so your AR22 will function just like a normal AR15.
Black dog 10 round magazines work the best or what do you guys use?
Brownm on Jan 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes those should work fine. I use Cmmg 25 rounders in mine with no hiccups. I also have a PSA pistol upper with a 4.5” Cmmg 22lr barrel that I have the “better mag adaptor” installed in the lower that allows me to use S&W 15/22 mags which are way easier to load imho

Solid feel, good quality.
This was perfect for my needs and you can't find a better price when on sale. Very accurate even with just a red dot and received in perfect condition. Only 300 rounds through so far and runs perfectly with a better-mag adapter, I highly suggest that adapter. Otherwise you need to shim your magazines in the magwell or keep the magazines pulled to the rear to cycle rounds properly. This upper was almost a perfect clone for my 5.56 BCM upper and I couldn't be happier with it. I was debating on getting a plastic S&W M&P 15-22 and I'm sure glad I got this instead, you can't beat the feel of all metal. It's by far my favorite plinker now, it's even surpassed my Browning BL-22 lever action.

Works great
very pleased, 400 rounds
fired, no issues. Using cci and 30
year old winchester wildcat 40
grains mostly. Getting an mbus sight to not shoot 2-3” high was difficult...
had to crank it all the way down. Sort of zeroed.. But this gunnscreams for a red dot sight so..

Excellent Buy
I debated buying a conversion kit instead, but I'm glad I went with a dedicated upper. It's excellent quality and keeps the dirty .22lr confined to this instead of my 5.56 upper. I'm very happy with this.

Excellent upper, excellent quality.
Waited months for any PSA dedicated upper to come back into stock and this was the first 16 inch barrelled upper to become available. Ordered one on a Saturday after business hours and even with weather delays (blizzards in upstate NY) slowing down UPS getting it here, I had it on my doorstep in 9 days total.

Opened the double boxed and egg crate foam packing and found zero scratches, dings, loose screws, etc. Condition was perfect.

Took it out today for a simple function check, air temp was 14 degrees, did not lube it at all, ran it with only the light oil that was used during factory assembly.. Mag used was a CMMG brand, loaded a few rounds of Winchester M22, chambered the first round and proceeded to empty the mag. Did this a few times and only had one FTF, and that is attributed to a dud round, I reloaded the dud and hit the rim in 3 different spots and it did not fire, each of the other 50-60 rounds chambered and fired with zero issues. When it warms up a bit here I'll actually sight it in, but wanted to leave a review stating how nice this upper is and comment on its reliability in cold conditions...

This upper is definitely worth the wait ! Thanks, PSA !

.22lr upper is great
I ordered this on Tuesday at my door on Friday removed it from box cleaned bore oiled bolt assy. mounted a aTasco 3x9x40 diamond reticle scope on high mounts. Went out to my 50 yard range after getting it sighted in ran 100 cci mini-mag 36gr hollow points no FTF or FTE accuracy 1/2 to 3/4 inch @50 yards, Very pleased with it way better than a chiappa upper that I gave more money for but the 25rd magazine that came with it worked fine with this upper last shot hold open worked fine.

I love this thing.
Excellent setup. I was out at the range sighting in my scope for this, which is a cheap scope I got off Amazon, using Amazon rewards points so it was free, who doesn't like free. Got it setup quick and easy. The guy next to me had steel setup at 150 & 200 yards and said I could hit it if I liked. After burning up the bulls eye on my sight-in target, I decided to try his 150 yard steel. Ding, ding, ding, ding... No problem, then his 200 yard steel, which I could only see 1/2 of because it was set low and my bad angle had a pile of dirt blocking some of it. Yet, ding, ding, ding, ding.... No problem... That guy was struggling to hit it with his 5.56 AR-15...
The point is this worked well, stabilized the bullets well. And easily stayed on target once the scope was lined up... I love this. The weight, feel, and mechanics are the same as my 5.56 and 300 BO versions but I can practice at about 5 cents a round rather than 30 - 50 cents a round... or more.

Don't bother with cheap bulk pack ammo for 22LR the savings are not worth the frustration the failure rate causes. This is not limited to this complete upper, I have several 22LR pistols and rifles. Unless you are using a bolt action, which seems more forgiving, or a revolver, the failure rate is too high with bulk packages. Stick to better packaging any you'll be happier.

new 22
Wanted to get one of these uppers and was able to do so. I already had a suppressor from my 10/22 which works great. It doesn't cycle my quiet rounds but the full power work great. My rodents know to be on the lookout at my place.
