Will it except 223 rounds?
Bill T on Feb 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If you mean can you shoot .223 rounds out of a 5.56 caliber barrel the answer is "yes"...But you shouldn't shoot 5.56x45mm NATO out of a .223 Barrel.
Just curious anyone else thinking of purchasing this, just to cannibalize it for the sights and bolt carrier group? I believe it's a PSA conspiracy them knowing in less then 2 weeks having spare barreled upper around is going to make me start another build.

Great Value AR15
So far, this is a great upper. I have it sitting on a PSA Lower, with Magpul furniture, Radian Raptor LT charging handle, using P-mags, and Vortex optics that almost cost as much as the complete rifle. Everything was brand new and we had ZERO issues.
My younger brother and I put ~300 rounds through it yesterday, ran without any problems. He liked it more than my stepdads Diamondback SBR which costs twice as much as this. We put a full sized steel torso out to 320 yards and were hitting it consecutively without any problems. We're not really into trying to put one round on top of another slowly, more into military style shooting (putting rounds on target quickly), and this did the job, thus far. I was concerned about it losing accuracy once the barrel heated up, but at 320 yards, and dumping 30 rounds in ~60-75 seconds, the accuracy didn't seem to decrease a noticeable amount. Especially once you consider the fact that the Vortex Huey wasn't sighted in properly. To avoid sitting around waiting to clear the range so I can zero it properly, I adjusted it on the fly for this outing (saw it was shooting high and adjusted until it was close enough to zero).
I still want to zero the Huey and check the groupings, but for my style of shooting this thing already gets an A for functionality.
Aesthetically, it gets a C+. The rail, upper, and lower are all different blacks, which has me considering painting it. The rail has a strip below the picatinny, about 2mm wide, running the length of it, which wasn't milled down completely. The "lines" leading from the upper to the lower don't line up perfectly. And the Picatinny on the rail and upper aren't milled the same, I had a hard time getting the rear MBUS onto the upper, from the front and the rear. Seems it isn't quite to spec, Very tight fit for the plastic MBUS, not sure if metal ones will even go on. I can't fit the rear sight on it with my optics anyway though.
Overall however, great build for the price.

Great AR for the price
Fits great with the Anderson Manufacturing lower. While breaking it in at the range, I noticed that the gas block was shooting gas back at my face. It wasn't unbearable. As far as accuracy goes, I had average results. Best I got with the MBUS was a 1/2 inch group of 4 shots at 50 feet. Most of my other groupings at that distance were within 2 inches. The nickel bolt carrier group ran like a dream. I had some feed issues at first, but I'm contributing that the brand new PMAGs I was using. Overall a great, lightweight upper!

Appears to be a great value.
This is probably a five star product. I'm giving it four only because I haven't been able to check the accuracy or shoot more than ten rounds to check function.

This upper always seems to sell out fast when it's available, and for good reason. I looked mine over carefully when I first got it, and fit and finish were excellent. The slim handguard was finished cleanly and smoothly, and the use of M-lock slots will make it a simple matter to add accessories. The NiB BCG is a shinier finish than most I've seen, but is very smooth and looks good. The included MBUS sights are not mounted, you have to install them yourself, which is simple enough.

Mounted on a lower, this makes for a very handy, quick pointing weapon, excellent for close range defense or light plinking. I didn't get an opportunity yet to zero the sights and check for accuracy.

Pencil barrels are looked down on by some, but they are great if you're looking for a light, handy package that you'll be carrying more than shooting. This should be more than adequate to handle most likely civilian self defense scenarios.

I'm considering buying a couple more of these to give one to my son-in-law and have another around just in case. If your looking for a very light weight upper without breaking the bank, this is the way to go.

Broke after 100 rounds
I sighted in and shot about 3 mags through it. The entire rail and barrel moved about 1/4 inch from the actual upper. Glad I didn't get hurt. I sent it back and PSA is sending me another one.
