what does CTR stand for?
mitch l on Jun 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Magpul CTR (Compact/Type Restricted) – Mil-Spec Model is a drop-in replacement buttstock for AR15/M16 carbines using mil-spec sized receiver extension tubes. Designed for light, fast action the streamlined A-frame profile avoids snagging and shields the release latch to prevent accidental activation.
Is this also .223 and 5.56 ?
Shawn B on Apr 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is chambered in 5.56, which means it's also able to use .223.

Great first build
Shot ARs before. Cheap easy build onto a 80% lower, shoots like a dream out of the box very accurate. Cheap and easy compared to the thousands other people spend for miniscule MOA differences

Would highly recommend PSA kits.
This is my first kit, it went together very easily. I'm not an AR expert , nor do I play one on T.V. I am very impressed with the quality of the parts, and the fit, and finish. I only have had a brief range session, more just for testing for function. It fed and extracted well using federal 55 grains Several of my friends are also very impressed, and we are going to start building some more together and we'll more than likely be using PSA kits to complete our PSA lowers. I found a 3-9 leupold scope in my spares and when I get the appropriate rings I'm going to test for accuracy.

Easy to put together, fun to shoot.
Loved the kit. Picked up the stripped lower at our local PSA. Easy to put together, fun to shoot. A friend showed me how to press in the roll pins with slip joint/water pump pliers. Neat trick. Had a little trouble with the allen screw for the bottom of the trigger guard. Maybe it was the difference between SAE and Metric. It shoots great. No jambs or failures to feed yet. Dead accurate. (Maybe that’s me). My only complaint is that Magpul doesn’t make flat dark earth magazines anymore.

Outstanding Value
Normally I'm one to build $2000+ ARs, but I saw how cheap this was and couldn't help try it. Parts quality seemed great for the money and everything went together easily with a cheap lower I had sitting around.

The MOS stock wobbles a little, but that's if you don't like that you can pay more for a CTR stock. Par for course with a cheap setup. Receiver play does exist between my lower and this upper, but that could be that they're different brands. Getting a PSA lower could help. Wouldn't mind spending an extra $10 for this if it had a tension screw to help take up any play.

Ran 450 rounds through the gun during a training day and got it real hot... enough to use a glove at times. Only had one failure in the first 50 rounds and it ran flawlessly the rest of the day (I expect one or two failures during the first few mags while a rifle breaks in). The failure was an FTE where the shell just stayed attached to the end of the bolt without being ejected. I was able to just remove it with a finger. At first I thought maybe there was an ejector problem but it was working and never gave me more trouble. I chalk it up to an ammo fluke or maybe a small break-in hiccup.

I can't speak to the trigger, as I dropped in an ALG Defense Combat trigger that I had handy.

Didn't bench test it for accuracy but the sights were dead on with no adjustment. Had no problem shooting a tight group on steel at 50yds.

A thorough cleaning after 450 rounds showed no unusual wear and once it was re-lubed it felt well broken in.

For $420 with a lower, this seems like the ultimate budget AR. The difference between this and my go-to $2500 build is night and day, but this is perfectly functional and I feel I can trust it. Great for a truck gun or first AR. Also only requires one special tool to build (castle nut wrench).

Recommending this to everyone who doesn't want to spend big money for a premium gun.
