New and improved Palmetto State Armory PA10 Gen2 308 Upper is fully assembled and ready for your complete PA10 Gen2 Lower!

With streamlined styling and improved function, the new and improved PSA PA10 is here.  The Gen2 model offers an enhanced chamber and extraction, with a more modern appearance.

Barrel: Machined from 416R Stainless Steel barrel.  Barrel is chambered in 308 Winchester with a 1:10 twist rate and operates with a rifle-length gas system.  Upper is paired with a Palmetto State Armory 15" Lightweight M-Lok free-float rail, low profile gas block, and an A2-style muzzle device.

Upper:  Precision machined from forged 7075-T6 aluminum, then Black anodize hardcoated to MIL-8625 Type 3 class 2.

Bolt Carrier Group:  9310 steel bolt assembly, nitride treated for durability.  8620 carrier, nitride treated, with a nitride treated gas key properly staked with grade 8 fasteners.  Charging handle is also included.

The Gen2 PA10 receivers are functionally compatible with the Gen1 upper receivers, however we recommend matching Gen2 lowers to Gen2 uppers for best appearance.  There are external cosmetic differences when mixing Gen1 and Gen2 upper and lower receivers that some may not find appealing.

The AR10 platform does not enjoy a common design between manufacturers, like the AR15. As a result, there can and will be subtle differences in the parts kits of various manufacturers. Some parts, like the fire control group, are shared with the AR15 platform to preserve the options for upgrading. For best results, we recommend only using PSA PA10 parts with our uppers and lower receivers. We do not recommend using other manufacturers parts in our products.

What is the weight of this complete upper ?
Freddy L on Sep 27, 2018
Does a heavy profile barrel meet Maryland heavy barrel requirements ?
Chipp on Jun 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The MD HBAR requirement only applies to direct impingement AR-15 pattern rifles chambered in 5.56 or .223 (Rem or Wylde). Since this is for an AR-10 pattern rifle and it's not 5.56/.223 it is exempt from the "copycat" definition that Maryland made up.
Will this upper support 7.62 nato ammo? Or just .308 win?
Ryan F on Dec 27, 2018
Is there anyone out there getting 1 MOA with this 20" Heavy Stainless steel Barrel? The CHF hasn't been in stock for a long time, or better yet what are your best groups. Thanks in advance
MANDOV on May 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I purchased the upper in March and have put a few hundred rounds through it. It has produced sub moa groups consistently using the right ammo..for me the hornady 168gr have been the most consistent shooters for this upper..couldnt be happier.
Compatible with 80 Percent Arms Lowers?
Kenobi Prime on Jul 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mostly Yes, slightly No. An AR 10 is not like and AR 15 in that you get a lot more variation in the AR10, where an AR 15 is almost always interchangeable parts. Now since your are making this 80% lower for the AR 10, this makes you the manufacturer of the lower and you can make your AR10 fit whatever you want it too. This being said if I were you I would buy this upper and then make my lower match it. I lover this upper and now so do 2 of my friends who also bought this upper. I would build to fit this upper.
Does anyone see any reason this .308 upper would NOT fit on a Noreen .308 lower? I know my lower is a DPMS Gen1 pattern, but i haven't been able to 100% confirm that this PSA "Gen2" upper will fit. All signs point to yes, but i'd like to know before i spend the money.
Alex N on Sep 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, AR-10s are not "mil spec" thus, there is no universal interchangeability between brands. Let the buyer beware!
I’m still need to the whole ar market, I bought a bushmaster carbon-15 from a friend , will this upper work with that that lower ? Also what else would I need to switch from .223 to this .308? Thank you. We all start somewhere
Ben M on Dec 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: A .223/5.56 lower will not work with a .308 upper. You would need a complete .308 lower to go with a .308 upper. Very few parts will interchange between a .223/5.56 platform and a AR-10 or SR-25 .308 platform. This also raises the issue that there are two different .308 AR platforms. The ones Palmetto State has are the more common "DPMS" style while some companies, such as Rock River Arms, use another style. The main difference between those is in the lower receiver and how the magazine release is configured and the fact that magazines will not interchange between one platform to another. Stick with the type Palmetto sells if you want easier availability to parts down the road.

Is this a blemished or seconds type of upper?

I don't understand the 'clearance' designation?
tttttt j on May 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If it were blemished or seconds, it would say so. Most likely it's on clearance because they aren't 'flying out the door'. I did a lot of agonizing over which upper I wanted, but ultimately decided my primary shooting with this rifle would be high-power target shooting. The heavy barrel will vibrate less, and should be more accurate, especially when it heats up. The weight will help tame the barrel movement, especially off-hand. However, the weight is noticeable. Stainless barrels tend to be more accurate, though that's not always true. In the case of the upper I got, I really lucked out, it's a shooter! If you're looking for more of a hunting rifle, you might prefer a lighter, shorter, less shiney upper. I can only speculate that that is why these are on clearance - there aren't nearly as many shooters looking for this type of particular upper as there are looking for an upper that isn't as specific for its particular role.
does this have an adjustable gas block?
d b on Jul 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Nope, but you could easily change it out to the adjustable block of your choice.
Is the muzzle break interchangeable?
Wesley M on Dec 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the muzzle is threaded (5/8-24)
Can a bi-pod be mounted to this upper?
Randy B on Sep 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: That should be no problem. You might just need a little m-lok attachment to connect it to. M-lok accessories are easy to come by.
What type of scope are yall pairing this upper with?
Bryan on Sep 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I mounted an SWFA 10 power scope, it's a great scope, but I'm looking for a bolder reticle. I'll be checking with tyborasaurus rex to see what he gives an A or B rating to. That's where you should start. Anything else is a reviewer's hype.
Would this work on thePSA AR15 freedom classic lower?
John C on Jul 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: NO!!!, It will only work on an AR 10 lower, the fit is perfect on an PSA 10 lower.

Is this upper compatible with dpms barrels?
Matthew G on Jul 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: When I emailed them, the answer I got was "While the PA-10 platform is loosely based on the DPMS gen1 profile, we can only guarantee the fit and function of PA-10 parts to other PA-10 parts." So far, I haven't tried anything else, but DPMS style mags fit and function.
I have a Aero Precision M5 lower. Will your upper fit on it?
KarlSan on Oct 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don’t think so. You want to stick to same manufacturer on a 308. Not nearly as interchangeable as AR 15 parts.
Can I switch the barrel out and make this a 6.5 creedmoor?
Colby on Sep 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Sure, but you might have to change magazines and/or buffers.
Can you fire m8o ball ammo with this upper?*8
Harvey S on Sep 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, M80 ball ammo works fine.
Is this upper compatible with a aero m5 .308 lower?
Randy C on Jul 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I didn't realize the AR-10s aren't mil-spec like the AR-15s until after I bought this upper. I tried this upper on 3 different lowers that my local gunshop owner had and none of them were compatible so I ended up ordering a PSA lower and it worked perfect. Very satisfied with the gun.
Do you know if this or other uppers are NJ compliance?
Adam B on Jul 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Does NJ allow for an unstaked flash suppressor [allows for muzzle break or suppressor ]?
will an ar 15 armorers wrench work to remove the barrel nut for this?
Jim M on Jul 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes there is one wrench with multiple sizes that you can get , i wanted to do the same to put a lighter barrel myself.
Will gen2 uppers work on a PSA gen1 lower?
Dan E on Jul 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes the upper will work with the lower however they say that some people don't like the way they "match up". They are cut slightly different than the gen 1s so it wont look as clean as a complete gen 2 but it'll work just fine.
Do you recommend the PA10 short buffer with this upper?
ken e on Jun 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Im no expert when it comes to AR's. But mine is on a lower with a short buffer and it does work well.

Has anyone tried pairing the nikon p-series mounts with this upper, if so do they fit or are they too tight to even slide on as I have read that they are with many other uppers?
DJordan on Nov 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No problem with the 'P' series. I did switch to the 'M' series to get a 20 MOA slope mount.
Will a P-tac lower fit this 20" upper assembly properly?
William S on Jul 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It will work with the P-Tac lower as far as functionality, but not fit and finish. The P-Tac was just a Gen 1 design. Our Gen 2 lowers will line up correctly with all aspects of our Gen 2 uppers.
Will this work with an aero precision lower gen2?
Rory S on May 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I would think so- with AR 15s there's usually no problem interchanging uppers and lowers. With AR 10s, stay with the same mfr. I used a foreign (non PSA) lower with my PSA upper and it gave me fits. Stay with PSSA.

Great upper and at a price that is hard to beat.
This is a very nice looking upper. I haven't been able to come close to the same level of quality as this especially at this price point.
