Will the AR9 function without the buffer tube?
Nathan on Nov 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Blowback requires an equal and opposite force to counteract the force exerted on the bolt by the fired round. It will not be possible to build a blowback 9mm AR without including a buffer. With the requirement to retain the buffer it will be impossible to build an AR without a buffer tube

Feed ramp issues? Seeing plenty online about the lacking feed ramp. Any issues with HP ammo, flat nosed? I plan to run this one for some fun with steel targets, but with as short and quick as this looks to run I see this as a nice gun for the truck or around the house.

Great shooter!!
I was very impressed with PSA's shipping time. I ordered it on a Monday and picked it up at my FFL on that Friday. After a good cleaning and inspection I've put over 600 rds. through this little pistol without a single problem, and it's a blast to shoot. By the way the fit and finish is top notch.

So far so good
Well I purchased this today. I brought it home to inspect it before taking it out just like all of my other guns. A few slight issues but this seems like it will be a great range toy and a candidate for a home defense weapon if the reliability is there.

Issue # 1- Whoever put on the brace did a terrible job. The screw was not even close to the right spot and actually took some metal from the buffer tube. I will link pictures.

Issue # 2- If this gun is going to be fit for glock magazine it should come with a glock magazine. However that's a personal opinion.

Issue # 3- This may be a little nit picky but some of the finish is already worn off. Nothing major but enough to notice it on a brand new gun.

Enough of the negatives. The positives are actually very surprising for a gun of this type at this price point. The castle nut has one of the best stakes out of a factory that I have ever seen. The tolerances of the upper and lower are super tight. The gun feels just as solid as my .308 on lock up. Not much rattle at all.

All in all I feel that this is most likely the best AR 9 on the market at this particular price point. My first PSA firearm and probably not my last
Outstanding stake for a 9mm

Highly recommend
This is the second AR pistol I've bought and I'm not disappointed. For the price you cant beat it and you get a very well made firearm. I'll definitely buy more in the future.
First AR 9m pistol and it takes every one of my glock mags. I love it

Impressive...with an issue
I almost gave this a 5 star but there was a definite issue.

Problem first: The receiver extension was installed a full turn too shallow so, after about 300 rnds, the (barely retained) buffer retainer launched into the works and tied the gun up. Easy fix in the grand scheme but this sort of thing shouldn't leave the factory.

Good stuff: 100% reliable over 400+ rnds of all kinds of ammo - light loads, hot loads, light bullets, heavy bullets, FMJ, HP, cast bullets in 6 different nose profiles, ETS mags, Glock mags, Magpul mags. Surprisingly accurate - a couple loads it likes group less than 1.5" at 50 yds...probably capable of better than that with something more precise than a red dot. Mild recoil, quiet compared to 5.56, fun for the wife and kids. It's a winner.
Buffer retainer jammed in upper, blocking hammer.
Receiver extension needed one full turn to correctly retain replacement pin.

Outstanding machine for the money!
Awesome pdw! 200 rds of various grade/style ammo including some Federal HST - zero malfunctions. I would like to see a more aggressive feed ramp but that's more peace of mind than an actual flaw since it has been flawless thus far. With BUIS it will easily shoot 2moa at 50yds if I do my part. Wanted something everyone in my house could handle besides .22 and this fills the role perfectly - low recoil and muzzle blast. My wife and daughters find it very manageable even if a little front end heavy. Debated between this and the 4inch model and don't regret my decision as it is still handy in tight quarters while having roughly a 200 fps advantage. The fact it can share mags with my Glock 19 is icing on the cake. Plan on adding a Romeo optic soon and then eventually a folder adapter if it doesn't change the reliability or OAL (?).

Highly recommended!

Also, very pleased with PSA service. My FFL and I noticed they forgot to include the magazine (mistakes happen), luckily I already had a pile of various 9mm Glock mags; I notified PSA and they sent out the ETS mag right away. A+ customer service.

PSA knocked it out of the park again!
Thank you PSA!! lol.

1 it reliable. it’s a blowback operated gun which and Normally very reliable but PSA has nailed it again and given us a very reliable and consistent shooting 9 mm AR.

2 it’s accurate I’m using a site mark for MOE red dot and at 15 m quick aiming I’m able to almost hit a bull’s-eye every time. If I take my time and aim I’m able to keep it in a 1 in square.

3 easy of use.The PSA uses Glock mags and eats cheap wolf ammo to gold not 147 +p ammo. it easy to clean and like all are easy to modify.

5 fun. i can’t believe how much fun i and my wife have shooting this. the recoil it low and ammo cheap and the mag changes fun. we can spend hours at the range to mag change drill and fast shoot

5 the only con The magwell could be a little bit more beveled in the mega release has a pretty sharp 90° on it and if you put the magazine in a little bit on an angle the lips of the magazine will get caught on the mega release and you’ll have to re-adjust to small thing and it’s a training issue that can easily be overcome
EDC storage area lol
fast shooting. all 6 targets in less then 2 seconds. hit two bulls,my wife and i took turns shooting

warning must have good supply of 9mm to feed this beast!!!
