If unsure about the required screw size for your Savage Axis or Axis II, contacting Savage with your serial number is recommended to ensure the correct mount is obtained. Alternatively, you can measure the holes using calipers, #6-48 screws measure approximately 0.138 inches, while #8-40 screws measure approximately 0.164 inches.
