But does the bolt remain open when you change mags? If not, that kinda defeats the point of having a bolt-hold-open magazine, no?

BEST ANSWER: No, it isn't magic. And, knowing when you've emptied your mag without pulling the trigger on an empty chamber to find out would be a valid reason to use this mag. Seems logical.
