The Patented Arisaka zero retention clamp (ZRC) is designed to effectively minimize zero shift for lasers and iron sights mounted on the handguard of the MCX Spear LT. Specifically engineered for the Spear LT models chambered in 5.56, 7.62x39 and 300BLK, this version does not support the Rattler. Due to inadequate upper receiver securing, both MCX Virtus and Spear LT handguards exhibit significant flex when slight pressure is applied. This flex can result in a shift of 5 mils or more while the rifle is shouldered, with the zero occasionally failing to return to its original position upon pressure release. The Arisaka ZRC features exterior clamps that thread into a specialized U-bracket, engaging the extended upper receiver beneath the handguard. This configuration securely fastens the handguard to the upper receiver along two axes, effectively minimizing or eliminating zero shift. Crucially, the U-bracket avoids contact with the barrel or gas system, thus preserving the free-floated barrel design. ZRC clamps are meticulously contoured to minimize interference with the user's hands during grip, ensuring comfort and optimal control.
