Admiral Coonan .357 magnum?

I was wondering since PSA (RIA collaboration) is making the Admiral now (By the way thank you I love my Tac) would you guys consider making (possibly acquiring the rights to make it if it’s needed) a Coonan .357 magnum Admiral variation? As you undoubtedly aware they are a rarity and deserve a much more prestigious place in firearms history in my humble opinion…
Either way if you decide to make them I will be looking to purchase one being as my Admiral is awesome and .357 is and has always been my favorite caliber for my revolvers and lever actions.
Thank you for your consideration and for being an industry leader with the perfect mission statement for True Americans.

Thanks. I actually had no idea what the Coonan was or that a .357 1911 was a thing, now there’s another gun on my list I didn’t know I wanted.

Couldn’t agree more! I absolutely LOVE the 357 Mag. It’s a hoot to blast in a lever action, and you can’t beat the power in a hand cannon. I’ve got the new Python in 2.5" barrel on layaway at my local FFL. Everything out the door it’ll be $1,420.00 bones and I’m just glad I happened to stumble across one.

All I wanted growing up was a Coonan. Those things were cool.

I love the .357. Most of my revolvers were .357 Mags. But if I want that kind of power in a semi-auto, I would choose a 10mm. jmho

10mm is a great round but it still can’t match .357.

Previously, the only semi I knew of in .357 was the Desert Eagle and those have been known to be finicky with feeding that round.

depends on how you mean matching. If you load the .357 with light 110gr bullets then yeah it’s going to be pushing that pill out pretty quickly compared to the 180gr 10mm but then there’s the whole over penetration thing. It’s apples and oranges. If you’re shooting a .357 with heavy defense rounds then they tend to even up quite a bit. Like I said, I love the .357 but in a semi auto there are so many options for the 10mm. You can go with a 1911 if capacity isn’t an issue but then there’s the G20 or even the G29.

But like @rhino1374 says, if you have a revolver and lever action in .357, it would be nice to have a semi auto as well, you know, just to round it out. I have nothing against the .357 semi auto, I shot the Desert Eagle in .44 and .357 and definitely had some strong feelings toward them :star_struck:. Neither had a feeding issue when I shot them though I did think they sort of felt mushy to me compared to my revolvers that I was shooting at the time.

Total energy. But again, it’s not an argument, both are great rounds. I just find the .357 much more exciting and already having a slate of wheelguns in it, one of these Coonans that I just learned about would be a fantastic addition.

However, a preliminary browse on Broker shows that they’re going for pretty stupid prices…the cheapest examples being $1,500 with the highest range being $5k.

yes sir. I always loved the .357. I was at Broker and saw a sweet SS Coonan with a buy now price right around $3400! But some were right around $1500 - $2000 which was right around the same price as the Desert Eagles.

Just makes me wonder what I’d have to buy the Mrs to be able to get one of these?

Also wonder if PSA actually went all in on a Coonan clone, how long would that take to hit the shelves and how much a beast like that would cost.

i must have spent too much time here that im now considering a hand cannon or, as i second everything said, now a coonan is on my list

yeah, now I’m sort of hoping someone from PSA would maybe give a hint at answering the original question.

I’m pretty sure the Coonqn was easily $1000 30 some years ago when I wanted one. I told my dad to buy one he wouldn’t listen

If you guys would like to learn a bit more about Coonans Ian from forgotten weapons had a break down and history of them just look it up it’s actually pretty dang interesting and informative.

Coonans are rare. Finding one that works is even more rare.

I had one.

I’d rather have the Deagle.

.02 and all that
