No offense to cops. But I hate that flag. They desecrated the US flag. That flag should be burned. Its not an American flag.
To each his own. I always appreciated the support it represented.
I have absolutely nothing against cops, backing the blue, or anything like that, etc, etc.
I support it all.
But that flag is a disgrace to the country.
I flew that flag on my 24ft flagpole during the BLM BS. My neighborās kids are LEOs in various parts of the country. He was a LEO for a while. Persons on my wifeās side of the family have been and still are LEOs with a few of them having been elected sheriff. We have that sticker on the back of our vehicles also. We are not involved in law enforcement, but we appreciate what they do and wanted to honor them and show our support. To condemn the profession because of a few bad apples is the same thing we as gun owners rage against every day.
Noone in the media cares about the millions of responsible gun owners in this Country. All they want to talk about is the criminals and irresponsible gun owners. One far out weights the other.
And I appreciate your support too. Everyone is entitled to their own perception.
Ill spell it out one day. Busy now. But even cops should be against that flag.
I fully understand the history and the significance of the American Flag. I am a student of history. Being a person who have served in the military and in Law Enforcement I understand both sides of the coin. The U. S. Flag Code specifies- The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.
The Supreme Court did rule that the U. S. Flag Code is not legally enforceable due to the 1st Amendment. What you can legally do and morally do is two different things.
I have worn the black line over my badge and been to more than one Law Enforcement members funeral. I have also been to more than one military funeral. I have friends that were killed in the line of duty in both the military and Law Enforcement. I have two American Flags in shadow boxes in my gun room. One was the flag my mother was presented when my grandfather passed away. The other flag is the flag my wifes granmother was presented when her grandfather passed away. They were both WWII vets. The American Flag is very sacred to me and millions of other US citizens. I would have really preferred Law Enforcement to have chosen a different representation for Officers fallen in the line of duty and living officers currently serving in LE⦠I know that in both Law Enforcement and military you are serving the United States of America or a portion of the United States in Law Enforcement. Under both you swear to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. I really wish that Law Enforcement would have used a generic LE badge with the black line through it like it has been traditionally done. The Blue line is a newer concept that has taken hold to show support of LEO. If you go by the long standing traditions of both the Military and LE there wouldnāt be any issues of desecrating our American Flag. I am not choosing favorites or taking one side over another. I just wish that the old traditions were upheld. If you want to show your support of LEO then honor the fallen officers just like you do the fallen American soldiers. Just do it with a different symbol than the American Flag. I know that there are many people that see it differently than I do. I am just expressing my opinion and that doesnāt necessarily mean that I am right and others are wrong. I am just looking for tradition to continue to present times.
Very well said, thank you.
As a hammer thrower by nature Let me see if i can address this gently.
The Back the Blue, Black lives matter and many other group identity based are a bastardizations of the concept that is represented by the Stars and Stripes.
These symbols have nothing to do preservation of individual liberty. They do on the other hand provide reconciliation points for acting in manners opposite of that goal.
These ideas were pitched as parallel to the original concept and they arent.
Imo they were largely developed to create tribal flash point of offense/defense while wins come at the cost of Our Constitutional provisions.
An easy example is back the blue.
Summer of loveās lawlessness spawned a back the blue which was a purely politcal tribal position. As only one politcal side particpated in it.
Shortly thereafter We saw covid and Law Enforcement participate in behaviors we levied at former foes to display their obtuse cruelty. The folks that would generally bold that behavior to account had already taken a position of support as a response to their poltical oppositions desire to destroy Law Enforcement.
Like clockwork.
We dont need more flags or branded patriotism. Just conviction and principle.
Damnā¦
No, hold the blue accountable for their terrible corruption and abuse of authority, then they will gain the support of the general public. Until then, they already get more support than they deserve.
Yep and you canāt fix stupid either.
When cops stop standing around allowing other cops to violate someoneās rights or outright breaking a law and they do nothing to stop it I will āback the blueā until that happens there is no such thing as a good cop.
Iāll say it again:
To condemn the profession because of a few bad apples is the same thing we as gun owners rage against every day.
Just to be clear since the original comment was below my post about the flag. The profession was never condemned by myself. Everything I said is clearly spelled out above. Iām not being confrontational I just want to be clear in case that was directed at my comment. Thanks!
Back the Blue!
Burn that āflagā
