Barrel issue

Hey guys how’s it going I recently bought a Dagger complete slide assembly and barrel, I’ve owned a Dagger frame for a while now and carried it with a Patmos Arms slide and barrel with no issues.

I got the slide this past Friday and it looks great, the slide looks amazing and I was impressed. Then, unfortunately, I chambered a round (IMI 124 gr di cut jhp, my normal carry ammo) and while the slide whent into battery, when I went to extract the round manually it got stuck, and stuck good. I had to brute force the slide open and it did this with both hollow points and FMJ. After stripping the barrel, I took a look inside and, well… Here’s a picture.

I replaced the Dagger factory barrel with the Patmos Arms one I already had and it seems to work perfectly.

That’s a new, unfired barrel? Is that rust on it? I would definity get PSA to fix that one way or the other. That barrel looks pretty bad for a new barrel. I’ve got some of that exact ammo, and find it to be pretty good stuff.

Brand stinking new, when I took that picture yesterday it hadn’t even been out of the box 24 hours. Didn’t take it to the range to try and fire it or anything.
I filed a customer claim on Friday when I discovered the issue with hand cycling, but I’ll definitely be sending this picture when I hear from them, I’ll probably even call in the morning to be honest.

It does indeed look like rust, I’m pretty happy overall with the quality of the slide but something is up with the barrel and I’m just hoping that it’s not a widespread issue.

Zoom in on this one and you can see what appears to be burrs on the inside and more pitting. Again, this barrel is brand new unfired.

ive never seen that, if that’s how you received it just ask Customer Service… i only ever replaced a dagger barrel to make it purple (b/c everyone thinks im joking but violet is fire) and i used lone wolf b/c i went glock, ghost, lone wolf, dagger…

@seanmcmillion89 CS has fix it in their system for ya with a new barrel heading your way. We should see it ship in the next day or so.

That is exactly what happened with mine but I was using Acme 125gr poly coated lead RN. My barrel and rifling looked much better than that and I attributed the problem being a much shorter free bore before the bullet encountered the rifling. I actually believe that there is no free bore in the PSA barrels.

Hey man I really appreciate it, do you have any idea as to what might be going on? Ive never seen or heard of something like this happening.

Assuming they are using Salt Bath Nitride, it’s probably a problem of whoever did the nitriding not cleaning it out properly after treatment. I had a nitride barrel from a different manufacturer came with the same kind of issue once - that was what they told me was the problem when they replaced it for me.
