Best trigger for match use?

My Dagger is ordered, but not shipped yet. Meanwhile…

Any thoughts on what the absolute BEST trigger is for the Dagger?

I’m not asking about “best for the money”. I mean The Best, when cost is no object. A trigger that you might say is only for competition use.

Is there one that would give very short take-up, very short reset, and a 2.5 - 3# break? While still being reliable?

I’m coming from 30 years of only owning 1911s (until I ventured into striker pistols last year). Mostly custom ones. A top shelf 1911 trigger is The Gold Standard (to me, anyway).

I don’t expect to find a Dagger setup that is identical in feel/take-up/reset/break to a top shelf 1911. I’m just asking, what will get me the closest?

From the research I’ve done so far, it looks like the top contenders are:

Timney Alpha
Zev Fulcrum Ultimate

Thoughts on those?

Any others that should be on that list?

I emailed Zev about theirs and they said they have not tested it with the Dagger and they only guarantee and warranty their stuff to work in an actual Glock or a Zev pistol (not a Dagger).

Thanks!

I’d advise doing a “fluff and buff” on the trigger components. Then working with it for awhile before doing trigger work.

Who is very trigger conservative.

Nobody has any input on the 2 triggers I mentioned?

Or suggestions for other triggers I should check out?

I did see a video on YouTube by Taran Tactical. It had to be the WORST review of a trigger I have ever seen. But, apparently, they use Glocks for everything and have Timney triggers in all of them and think they are awesome.

why would you put in a super expensive “cost is no object” trigger into a $300 - $400 budget level pistol?? There are FAR better guns out there for matches. Heck all the Canik pistols like the SFX and Mete line are better quality, more accurate, have competition features built in, and have great triggers right out of the box.

I use a Canik Rival for shooting matches.

A crappy trigger ruins my enjoyment of any gun. My Dagger now has 200 rounds through it and the trigger is still complete garbage. I can’t think of a semi-auto pistol I’ve shot that I think had a worse trigger. I do not believe any simple polishing I could do to it would provide a result that I would really enjoy shooting. It might get up to “Not Total Garbage”, but I don’t think it will rise to “I enjoy it.”

Which means - for me - put a trigger kit in it or get rid of it. I want to have something that works with Glock 9mm magazines, so I don’t want to get rid of it. And if I’m buying a trigger to go in it, why would I not get the best trigger I can afford? I don’t want to be shooting it and thinking, “dang! This trigger is still not that great. I wish I would have spent the extra bucks to get a better trigger.”

Also, I bought the Timney last week. It was on sale on Midway for $119.99… It has not arrived yet.

I already put a Holosun 407CO on it, 'cause I had one that needed a home. I expect that with a good trigger, it will be more than accurate enough for what I will use it for. So, I will have a gun with a good optic and good trigger, that I expect to be reliable. Why NOT do it? I will still have way less in it than either of my Caniks.
