Do y'all not own 1911's? Post pics

I hope I don’t get kicked off this thread BUT I love my Staccato 2011 more than my 1911s!

Nice!

I’ve got a buddy who carries around a 2011 with a RMR, and I believe he’s got a light on it as well. I’ve not shot it, but he thinks that gun’s the cats meow. He doesn’t carry it on his person as that gun might be a little much for CC, (he carries a G19 usually I think) but he keeps it in his bag. To me that doesn’t seem worthwhile. You’ve got to dig it out your bag if the need arises, and a G19 is an already excellent, easy to use pistol which is what you’d go for in that situation. It just seems that walking around with a 2011 with a $600 dot in a bookbag would make it potentially easy to get stolen, but that’s JMO.

Believe me, I tried to justify getting a Staccato. I even said it would be my retirement gift to myself. In the end my lifelong frugality got me.

Is Staccato what STI is going by nowadays? I largely quit paying attention to the gun market when the Wuu Flu hit because their price got high, while their availability got low. But my dude I was saying carries around the 2011 was telling me how STI had to change their name.

Here is an article on STI → Staccato change.

Any have any experience with these? I saw a few recently and they look really nice. Pricey though.

I believe @GamecockOperator has one.

I do have a devil Dog 1911 commander size in 9mm. its a damn well put together 1911. i really love how it feels in the hand, and its fit and finish are 2nd to none. Now i got it in a trade, so i didnt have to shell out any greenbacks for it, but it is my knowledge that they are quite pricy compared to say a rock island or even springfield depending on model. Mine is FDE, and in fact heres a photo of it.

Here are some 1911 frames I was cutting out for a company who make very high-end 1911’s. These frames are titanium and go to guns costing near 5 figured if I’m not mistaken. These are just blanks I’m roughing out for the manufacture to machine into a finished frame. They wanted as many as I could get them out this block. You can see how tight everything’s nested and riding the edges of the material. This was about 5 years ago, and of the time I works at this job I probably had 2 or 3 orders like this from this gun company.

That looks really nice. I was in TN. at Smoky mountain Knife last week and they had a large display of several models. Prices were in the Colt, Sig range, $1100 + depending on the model. I’m not opposed to shelling out that much for a high quality firearm, I’m just not familiar enough to make a judgement.

That is a nice looking piece.

I wish their site would show what it looks like with the upgraded magwell/safety/sites.

thanks. i’ve always wanted to go by the smoky mountain knife but have never had the chance to stop in there as i rarely go to the mountains. the 1100 is a bout a mid grade 1911 really now a days. high end i look at anything over 1800 and up… low is 500 or less, mid is 600-1700 give or take these days… some things dont fit easily there but thats what i use as a guide personally price wise.

thanks… yeah it feels even better in the hand. I too wished their site showed that stuff… I got this one in a trade, so i didnt have the issues with buying online and configuring online… i am however quite pleased with it and love how she feels and shoots.

now since i brought up different price lines. here’s a more inexpensive gun i have… its a rock island,… probably around 500.00 new.

doesnt Rock Island have something roll marked middle of the slide?

i saw some of those slides with just the white name for sale at Sarco, im pretty sure.
they go through a lot of 1911 type slides.

The old slides were the “billboard” slides. Marked in the middle pretty big. A few years ago they switched to the marking at the rear above the safety.

Traded a hopped up JetSki for an ATI Titan as part of the deal, the Solas impeller was probably worth more than the gun . Good kid and he made the payments. I really liked the ATI even though I think their rep isn’t that good, never gave me any problems. I think the Kimber Ultra Compact recoil spring fit perfect as a replacement iirc.
